MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company, has released the first teaser clip along with a new set of stills for Christopher Andrews’ directorial debut Bring Them Down, which will be released in cinemas in Canada from February 7, 2025.
Starring Christopher Abbott (Poor Things and TV’s Girls) and BAFTA-winner and Academy-Award® nominee Barry Keoghan (Bird, The Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn), alongside Colm Meaney (The Problem with People, Layer Cake), Nora-Jane Noone (The Magdalene Sisters, Brooklyn) Paul Ready (A Gentleman in Moscow, Motherland) and Susan Lynch (Enduring Love, Waking Ned Davine), Bring Them Down is the story of two feuding farming families in present-day rural Ireland.
Michael (Christopher Abbott), the last son of a farming family, lives an isolated existence with his ailing, cantankerous father Ray. Burdened by a terrible secret from his past, Michael has isolated himself from the world and dedicates himself to his prized flock. When the ongoing conflict with rival farmer Gary and his wayward and unpredictable son Jack (Barry Keoghan) stirs old tensions and grievances, it triggers a chain of events that take increasingly violent and devastating turns, leaving both families permanently altered.
Bring Them Down has been nominated for the Douglas Hickox Award (Best Debut Director, Christopher Andrews) and Breakthrough Producer (Jacob Swan Hyam) at this year’s British Independent Film Awards. The film received its world premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and was also selected for BFI London Film Festival 2024.

Starring Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, Sanctuary, Possessor) and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisheerin, Eternals), Bring Them Down is a suspenseful thriller that observes the escalating tensions of two farming families in the west of Ireland, whose actions have increasingly devastating consequences. The film will receive its World Premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in the Special Presentation section. MUBI will release the film in North America, the UK & Ireland, Benelux, LATAM and Turkey.

SYNOPSIS
Michael, the last son of a shepherding family, lives with his ailing father, Ray. Burdened by guilt over the death of his mother, Michael has isolated himself from the world. When a conflict with rival farmer Gary and his son Jack escalates, Michael is drawn into a devastating chain of events, forcing him to confront the horrors of his past and leaving both families permanently altered.
DIRECTORS’ BIO
Chris’ previous shorts include BAFTA longlisted FIRE and STALKER, which premiered at Edinburgh IFF 2019 and won the Cork Grand Prix. He was also named as a Screen Star of Tomorrow in 2019.
Chris is also a prolific writer, and current projects include the script of upcoming period thriller CAVENDISH for Ivana MacKinnon and Emily Leo of Wild Swim Films, to be directed by Augustine Frizzell, and an adaptation of Man Booker Prize nominated FRANKENSTEIN IN BAGHDAD. In television, he is developing original projects with Hera Pictures, Severn Screen and 60/40, as well as adapting Andrew Michael Hurley’s DEVIL’S DAY for The Ink Factory and Range Media.
