Today, The Walt Disney Company is celebrating “Avatar Day” with the debut of the final trailer for “Avatar: The Way of Water,” James Cameron’s highly anticipated follow-up to his Academy Award®-winning “Avatar,” tonight during “Monday Night Football” game, which airs at 8:15PM ET on TSN. Celebration events are taking place all over the world, including Venice–where its famous canals were turned blue with a projection on the water and buildings, Sydney–where the iconic Bondi Beach Icebergs Pool was transformed into a giant blue birds’ eye view billboard for the film, and New York City’s famed Times Square, where at approximately 7PM EST, “Avatar: the Way of Water” will simultaneously light up 40 digital screens, immersing viewers in an anamorphic 3D, nearly 360 degree experience of Pandora’s breathtaking underwater world.

Disney also revealed that Snapchat has created an augmented reality Lens that turns any Snapchatter into a Na’vi. Every Snapchatter will get a personalized experience. The Lens uses machine learning to transform in real-time their mouth, eyes, head shape, hair and skin – complete with blue-striped texture – as if they came straight from Pandora.
World class global promotional partners, including Mercedes-Benz, NYX Professional Makeup – L’Oréal Groupe, will support the film with massive media campaigns and first to market activations.
And finally, beginning today in celebration of “Avatar Day,” the original 2009 “Avatar” is once again available to stream on Disney+.

SMILE giggles its way to #1 spot in its debut, taking $22 million from 3,645 theatres for Paramount Pictures. This R-rated Horror starring Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, gets 74% on the Tomatometer from Critics.
Second is DON’T WORRY DARLING with $7.3 million from 4,121 theatres, bringing its total to $32.8 million for Warner Bros. over two weekends.
THE WOMAN KING is in third with $7 million, a tally of $46.1 million now over three weekends for Sony Pictures.
BROS debuts in fourth with $4.8 million from 3,350 theatres for Universal Pictures. The first-ever major studio LGBTQ+ Rom-Com gets a stellar 95% on the Tomatometer, getting from tons of positive word of mouth also coming out of its TIFF ’22 Premiere.
Capping-off the Top Five is the Avatar re-release with $4.6 million, taking its two week total to $18.5 million for 20th Century Studios.
DON’T WORRY DARLING overcomes controversy to take top spot at the Box Office in its opening weekend with $19.2 million from 4,113 theatres for Warner Bros. Despite a score of 36% from Critics on the Tomatometer, Moviegoers could not resisit the allure of Harry Styles and Florence Pugh.
In second is last week’s topper, THE WOMAN KING with $11.6 million for Sony Pictures from 3,765 theatres, a total $36.2 million over two weeks in North America.
The re-release of AVATAR is third and takes $10 million for 20th Century Studios, playing at 1,800 theatres. It’s total theatrical run comes to $770.5 million.
Fourth is BARBARIAN with $4.8 million from 2,340 theatres for 20th Century Studios, a three week gross of $28.4 million.
PEARL rounds-out our Top Five with $1.9 million for A24/VVS Films, a two week total of $6.6 million.

Disney have unveiled a few eagerly-awaited new titles at CINEMACON in Las Vegas earlier today.
The preview included a look at three upcoming releases from 20th Century Studios: “The Bob’s Burgers Movie,” the newest film from David O. Russell (“American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook”), and James Cameron’s first follow-up to his sci-fi action-adventure “Avatar,” the highest-grossing movie of all time.
AMSTERDAM
The title of Russell’s film, which will open in theatres on November 4, 2022 is “Amsterdam.” CinemaCon attendees were treated to a sizzle reel of footage from the film, which is an original romantic crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history. Based on facts that meet fiction, “Amsterdam” stars Academy Award® winner Christian Bale, two-time Oscar® nominee Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Timothy Olyphant, Zoe Saldana, with Oscar-winner Rami Malek and two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro. Written and directed by five-time Oscar® nominee David O. Russell, the film is produced by Arnon Milchan, Matthew Budman, Anthony Katagas, David O. In addition, Zoe Saldana, who stars in both “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Amsterdam,” will be receiving the CinemaCon “Star of the Year” award at the “Big Screen Achievement Award” Ceremony on Thursday evening, April 28, 2022.
BOB’S BURGERS
The studio also screened the first six minutes of “The Bob’s Burgers Movie,” which opens in theatres nationwide May 27, for convention attendees. The animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy®-winning series showcases voice talent, which includes H. Jon Benjamin, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal,withZach Galifianakis, and Kevin Kline.
