Last year Netflix graced us with Drew Goddard’s Daredevil and fans everywhere cried tears of joy when we finally received an incredible Daredevil. After an exhilarating first season with numerous amazing sequences and intensity we all had to wait until March 2016 to see more of the devil of Hell’s Kitchen. However after watching the first episode of season 2 of Daredevil, the Show certainly picks-up from where it left and hits the ground running at an even faster pace this season.
Unlike the first season where we immediately knew that our antagonist was Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, season 2 has done things slightly differently by making us believe that the main antagonist is The Punisher, who throughout the comics has sometimes allied himself with Daredevil. Now with that being said it seems like for now at least the show is going a different path, and quiet frankly I could not be happier. We have all been anxiously waiting for the big screen debut of The Punisher that we deserve and after hearing the rumor mill flow with how absolutely brilliant John Bernthal is, the first episode delivers on the rumors and to no surprise pleases audiences all around.
Last night, Netflix ran a Daredevil event at the Berkeley Church in Toronto where the first episode was screened followed by a reception. Now no Daredevil screening is complete without a visit from Karen, Deborah Ann Woll who introduced us to the first episode of season 2 last night. The episode was beyond exceptional introducing us to The Punisher who follows his normal back story, taking out the mafia and gave us our first fight amongst Daredevil and The Punisher which was just as exhilarating as Daredevil vs Kingpin from last season.
This season we can expect more confrontations between the devil of Hell’s Kitchen and Frank Castle, while also meeting another new hero, Elektra who is bound to be spectacular as well. Fair warning, the first episode ends on a massive cliffhanger, so when preparing to watch, or re-watch the first episode make sure you give yourself some extra time to watch another episode immediately afterwards.
Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix Canada.
