Harry Styles is back and better than ever with his second Album FINE LINE and we assure you, there’s no sophomore slump here. This follow-up to his 2017 self-titled debut is a gorgeous collection of 12 tracks. While his latest effort veered more towards the Rock side, he experiments a bit more to the Alternative with a bit more Pop and Urban intertwined. The melodies are beautiful and the moods are euphoric and uplifting. It didn’t take many listens to be sold on this.
Styles has a hand in crafting each of these tunes with a range of collaborators like Greg Kurstin, Kid Harpoon, Jeff Bhasker, Thomas Hall and Tyler Johnson.
Falling is deeply-emotional placing him along the fine line of Pop Star and soulful Singer-Songwriter, echoing the “Do You Know Who You Are?” sentiments heard in first single Lights Up. This time around he asks “What am I now?” and seems to have been in a soul-searching phase writing this Album.
She sounds a cut from the same cloth as Styles’ first Album, soaring falsettos and moody guitars.
Harpoon-produced second single Watermelon Sugar and Canyon Moon are a slice of sunshine, reflections on lust, which fit right into this cohesive mix of songs, ending the Disc on a light note.
Not too long, not too short, FINE LINE does exactly what it serves to do – be played on repeat.
Sony Music Entertainment release FINE LINE, in stores now and on streaming services.
