Jade LeMac, the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter is entering a new chapter with her brand new single, “Prettier With Your Mask Off,” out now via Warner Music Canada / East West Records. The song is the first release from Jade’s forthcoming EP, due in early 2027. The track arrives alongside the official visualizer, captured during her summer on tour opening for Hilary Duff.
In “Prettier With Your Mask Off,” Jade explores a darker subject matter, centering the song around Stockholm Syndrome and the complicated relationship between control, attraction, and emotional attachment.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Jade says, “Attraction can come instantly, but sometimes attraction grows over time, especially when a person stops hiding who they really are. With this song, I show that through the perspective of someone experiencing Stockholm syndrome.”
The song begins with a sense of uncertainty as Jade sings about being taken into the night and repeatedly asks, “Where the hell are we going?” From there, the story moves into the complicated emotional territory at the heart of the song, as fear and desire become increasingly difficult to separate.
Jade has quickly established herself as an artist to watch, building an audience through her distinctive songwriting and emotionally driven music. She was recently honoured by SOCAN at the 2026 Awards Ceremony in Toronto as the Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, which places her among an esteemed class of past recipients, including Tate McRae, Daniel Caesar, and Alessia Cara. The award highlights an exceptional year of songwriting and critical success, powered by key tracks from her EP It’s Always At Night, including, “Pink Balloon,” “Running Home,” and “Sweet Dreams,” that have had sync placements in hit series such as My Life With the Walter Boys (Netflix), Coven Academy (Hulu) and more to come. Earlier this year, Jade also took her music on the road, performing at Governors Ball before recently completing a U.S. tour opening for Hilary Duff.
