T&T Supermarket have made our lives better. This is pure facts! We so proudly cheer this gamechanging grocer on as they just opened their 38th store – and second in Downtown Toronto – at 26 Edward Street, just north of Eaton Centre. Despite a heavy snowstorm, T&T fans would not be deterred from celebrating opening day, already drawing a long queue by its 9 AM opening!
This is a proudly-Canadian story and the fastest-growing banner in the Loblaws family. At the launch we got to hear from T&T‘s charismatic CEO Tina Lee, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and President & CEO of Loblaws Companies Limited, Per Bank. We learned that this store was meant to be a successor to the ill-fated Cherry Street location by the waterside that was so beloved before its closure due to city plans of a waterway. But alas, what’s meant to be will be and this spacious and amply-stocked location might not have been if it weren’t for the past.
Fans of T&T will get to try an exclusive floral-design savoury Chinese crepe (jianbing), a food item that does very well for them at their other locations. Prior, this specific crepe was available only in Bellevue, a location that launched also recently.
Expansion plans for what many fans call the “greatest Asian grocery store in the world”, are aggressive as T&T continues to set its sights south on the American market. American celebrities like Bowen Yang can’t be wrong in their obsession! The Saturday Night Live and Wicked star sang its praises while filming last year in Vancouver.
