Just when you thought they’ve run out of ways to go with YOU, we pack our suitcases and head to London with Joe, now known as Jonathan Moore, in the fourth season of this riveting Series.
In hot pursuit of his last obsession Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), he must lay low in his new surroundings and avoid being noticed. We wonder if like his other victims, she too will suffer a similar demise, yet also we meet his new social circle, a wealthy group of Socialites in the Art World. We’re introduced to neighbours Malcolm (Stephen Hagan) and his girlfriend, Kate (Charlotte Ritchie). The former is arrogant and quick to grate on Joe‘s nerves, while the latter is standoffish and cold, working with Simon, another rich kid who’s made a name for himself in the Art circle. Like clockword, friends in the circle begin disappearing mysteriously and we wonder why… Hmm. Above this, Joe learns what it’s like to be stalked, receiving mysterious text messages. Someone out there knows the truth.
Taking the Series to London is actually a brilliant choice as it adds several new elements and personalities to the mix. The “fish out of water” component adds an exciting layer of suspense and intrigue. The stakes are upped with his potential victims being more high-profile than ever. Joe simply can’t resist getting involved, even though he’s committed to staying under the radar, careful not to reveal too much about his past. But like before, he just can’t help himself. And we need this as the Series thrives on him misbehaving and making literally, fatal errors.
This new season keeps many of the things that we loved so much about its predecessors, namely Penn Badgeley‘s creepily-delicious delivery, drawing us right in once again to the dark side with his paranoia and overthinking. Ritchie also is fantastic as Kate unpeeling the layers as we learn more about her backstory, the close Joe gets. She certainly has some big shoes to fill with Elizabeth Lail and Victoria Pedretti entertaining us with some superb work as Joe‘s past loves, but handles the role with aplomb. We also get some exciting new additions like Euphoria‘s Lukas Gage as the unpredictable Adam and Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe, giving some much-needed Comedy to the mix.
Season Four of YOU arrives on Netflix in two parts, February 10, 2023, then March 9, 2023.
