#FIRSTLOOK: HOLLYWOOD SUITE COMMEMORATE NATIONAL TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY

On September 30, 2026 Hollywood Suite will present a special day of programming commemorating the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and celebrating the work of Indigenous filmmakers, performers, creatives, and artists from across the nation. The all-day programming begins at 6 a.m. ET with Beans (2020) and concludes with Rhymes for Young Ghouls (2013) at 3:30 a.m. ET the following morning.

This year’s lineup brings together films representing a range of Indigenous cultures and communities, including Cree-Métis, Métis, Mi’kmaq, Mohawk, and Secwépemc perspectives. From science fiction and action thrillers to coming-of-age dramas, documentaries and comedies, the programming showcases the breadth of Indigenous storytelling.

Among the highlights of the day is the broadcast premiere of Danis Goulet’s Night Raiders (2021). Starring Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Brooklyn Letexier-Hart, and Alex Tarrant, the film is set in a dystopian future where a military government separates children from their parents and places them in schools. Tailfeathers plays Niska, a Cree woman who joins an underground resistance movement to rescue her daughter.

Also featured are several films produced with support from Hollywood Suite, including Liz Marshall’s documentary s-yewyaw: Awaken (2023); Darrell Dennis’ comedy The Great Salish Heist (2024); and the science-fiction films The First Encounter (2021), directed by Benjamin Ross Hayden, and Alexander Lasheras’ The Beehive (2023).

The centrepiece of the day will air at 7:20 p.m. ET with Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2026, a powerful 90-minute multilingual commemorative event from Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Through heartfelt reflections, moving performances, and stories of strength and survival, the gathering honours Survivors and pays tribute to the children who never made it home. The special is produced in partnership with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR), APTN, and CBC/Radio-Canada.

In addition to Hollywood Suite’s full day of programming, other Anthem Sports & Entertainment channels GameTV, Fight Network, and Game+ will broadcast Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2026 live at noon ET.
