One of Canada’s biggest nights of celebration, storytelling and star power lights up screens this Canada Day with the national broadcast premiere of Canada’s Walk of Fame 2025 on CBC and CBC Gem. Filmed earlier this month at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the star-studded special features powerful tributes, surprise appearances and electrifying performances honouring some of Canada’s most remarkable changemakers, trailblazers and global icons.
Premiering Tuesday, July 1 at 7 p.m. (8 AT, 8:30 NT), Canada’s Walk of Fame 2025 offers viewers a front-row seat to one of the country’s most inspiring and talked-about events.
“I’m excited to share these uplifting and emotional stories with all Canadians on our nation’s birthday,” said Jeffrey Latimer, CEO, Canada’s Walk of Fame.
“CBC is proud to bring Canada’s Walk of Fame to audiences from coast-to-coast-to-coast, to showcase inspiring stories of achievement from Canadian trailblazers and celebrate the very best of our country on Canada Day,” said Barbara Williams, Executive Vice-President, CBC.
This year’s Inductees — representing the very best across Canada’s Walk of Fame’s five pillars of achievement: Arts & Entertainment, Science, Technology & Innovation, Sports & Athletics, Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy, and Humanitarianism — include:
Liona Boyd – Five-time Juno Award-winning “First Lady of Guitar”
Dr. Tirone David – World-renowned Cardiovascular Surgeon
Shawn Levy – Acclaimed Writer, Director and Producer (Deadpool & Wolverine, Stranger Things, Night at the Museum)
Dr. Samantha Nutt – Humanitarian and Global Health Leader
Our Lady Peace – Multi-platinum, Diamond-selling rock band
Isadore Sharp – Four Seasons Founder and Philanthropist
Mike Weir – First Canadian golfer to win The Masters
Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) – The largest public film festival in the world
Tonya Williams – Award-winning Actress, Producer and Advocate
The broadcast features emotional and unexpected moments that lit up the gala, including:
Surprise video tributes from global A-listers Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Ben Stiller, Col. Chris Hadfield, Alex Lifeson and more.
Storytelling narration from iconic Canadians and international voices, including Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Rick Mercer, Hugh Jackman, Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Peter Mansbridge, Heather Hiscox, among others.
A heartwarming moment as a cardiac patient of Dr. Tirone David shares his life-saving story, captivating the entire room.
Viewers can also expect an unforgettable performance from rocker Sam Roberts, chart-topping vocal group The Tenors, and a show-stopping set from 2025 Inductees, Our Lady Peace.
Co-hosted by Arisa Cox and Madison Tevlin, Canada’s Walk of Fame 2025 also features an all-star roster of presenters including Tom Cochrane, K.C. Collins, Chantal Kreviazuk, Julie Nesrallah, Deepa Mehta, George Stroumboulopoulos and many more.
