As 50 per cent U.S. tariffs on Canadian artwork create new barriers to cross-border sales, Art Toronto is turning to a new generation of Canadian collectors to strengthen the market at home.

With fewer U.S. galleries participating this year, new Director Emily-Jean Alexander is making collecting more accessible through a Ready to Collect Art Advisory Desk and Friday Emerging Collectors Evening, offering personalized guidance and practical sessions for first-time buyers.

Taking place October 29–November 1, 2026 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the fair offers a timely story on how Canada’s art community is responding to uncertainty and whether new collectors can help fill the gap.
