Trailblazer Alanis Morissette is the latest Canadian luminary to join the Iconic XI – Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team (CANMNT) ambassador program to rally the country behind the home team on their journey to the FIFA World Cup 26™.
Developed by Canada Soccer Foundation, in partnership with Infinity &, the Iconic XI is a curated group of 11 of Canada’s most influential figures in entertainment, sport, fashion, music, media, and the arts. Morissette joins previously announced ambassadors: Shawn Mendes, Sidney Crosby, and Simu Liu. The program is designed to serve as an amplification platform – celebrating player stories, building excitement around the Men’s National Team, and supporting initiatives that benefit youth soccer through the Canada Soccer Foundation.
Since 1995, Alanis Morissette has been one of the most influential singer-songwriter-musicians in contemporary music. Her deeply expressive music and performances have earned vast critical praise and seven Grammy Awards. Morissette’s 1995 album JAGGED LITTLE PILL was a tour de force that changed the sound of pop music around the world. It was followed by nine more eclectic and acclaimed albums. She has contributed musically to theatrical releases and has acted on the big and small screen.
Outside of entertainment, she is an avid activist and advocate, focusing on female empowerment as well as spiritual, psychological and physical wholeness. In 2016, Alanis launched Conversation with Alanis Morissette, a monthly podcast that features conversations with a variety of revered thought leaders, authors, doctors, educators, and therapists, covering a wide range of psychosocial topics extending from spirituality to developmentalism to art.
In 2019, JAGGED LITTLE PILL: THE MUSICAL made its Broadway debut at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City, and was subsequently nominated for fifteen Tony Awards. In 2020, Alanis released her ninth studio album, Such Pretty Forks In The Road, to rave reviews; it was followed by a meditation album called The Storm Before The Calm in 2022.
Following the pandemic, Alanis made a triumphant return to the road, with massive, sold-out arena tours in America, Canada, Europe, South America and Asia. In October 2025, she did her first ever residency over eight dates at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.
“As the country rallies behind our Men’s National Team ahead of a home World Cup, we are proud that Canadian icons like Alanis Morissette are stepping forward to build national momentum and drive investment in the future of youth soccer through the Canada Soccer Foundation and its initiatives,” said Kevin Blue, CEO and General Secretary of Canada Soccer.
“We’re excited to continue building out the Iconic XI with the addition of another voice that represents the spirit of the country at a global level. This program is about amplifying player identity, deepening the connection between fans and the Men’s National Team. Each ambassador helps bring the story of the players to life in a way that resonates culturally and expands the reach of the sport” added Jerry Deifer, Partner & GM at Infinity &.
More Iconic XI roster members will be announced in the coming weeks.
