THE UPSIDE lands on top of the Box Office with $19.1 million, a first ever for STX Entertainment. Starring Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston, the Remake of French crowd-pleaser The Intouchables, opens in 3,080 theatres. It is released in Canada by Elevation Pictures. It gets an A CinemaScore and 39% on the Tomatometer.
AQUAMAN slips to third this weekend with $15.5 million, bringing its four-week tally to $286 million for Warner Bros. in North America.
In third is A DOGS WAY HOME with $11.2 million from 3,090 theatres for Sony Pictures. It gets 61% on the Tomatometer and an A- CinemaScore.
ESCAPE ROOM lands in fourth with $8.4 million, bringing its two-week tally to 31.9 million for Sony Pictures.
ON THE BASIS OF SEX expands to 1,213 theatres with $6 million for Focus Features/Universal Pictures, placing it in sixth, a three week total of $10.3 million.
VICE rounds things out in tenth with $3.3 million, a total $36 million for Annapurna Pictures/eOne Films.
