It’s a massive opening for THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2, debuting with $80 million from 4,150 theatres across North America. It manages to best its predecessor commercially and critically with a 75% score on the Tomatometer. By contrast, its 2006 predecessor earned $27.5 million for 20th Century Studios.
Second is MICHAEL with a stellar $45 million for Lionsgate/Cineplex Pictures, taking it to $175 million domestically in its second weekend.
Third is THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE with $11.3 million, taking it to $401 million over five weekends for Universal Pictures.
PROJECT HAIL MARY continues to go well with $9 million, taking it to $318 million for Amazon MGM Studios.
HOKUM rounds out the Top Five with $6 million from 1,860 theatres for NEON/Elevation Pictures. It garners 87% on the Tomatometer.
