Hot on the success of his Box Office domination this weekend, Liam Neeson stars in yet another high-octane Action-Thriller, RUN ALL NIGHT, its new Trailer just getting released this past weekend.
Official Synopsis:
Brooklyn mobster and prolific hit man Jimmy Conlon (Liam Neeson), once known as The Gravedigger, has seen better days. Longtime best friend of mob boss Shawn Maguire (Ed Harris), Jimmy, now 55, is haunted by the sins of his past—as well as a dogged police detective (Vincent D’Onofrio) who’s been one step behind Jimmy for 30 years. Lately, it seems Jimmy’s only solace can be found at the bottom of a whiskey glass.
But when Jimmy’s estranged son, Mike (Joel Kinnaman), becomes a target, Jimmy must make a choice between the crime family he chose and the real family he abandoned long ago. With Mike on the run, Jimmy’s only penance for his past mistakes may be to keep his son from the same fate Jimmy is certain he’ll face himself…at the wrong end of a gun. Now, with nowhere safe to turn, Jimmy just has one night to figure out exactly where his loyalties lie and to see if he can finally make things right.

The 72nd qnnual GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS took place tonight at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and taking top honours on an evening where multiple Films shared the spotlight, was Boyhood. The Richard Linklater Movie filmed over 12 years, won for Motion Picture Drama, Best Director and also Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette).
The Grand Budapest Hotel was victorious for Motion Picture Comedy/Musical and Director/Writer Wes Anderson for the former drew big laughs from the Audience individually thanking members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
After leading the way with seven nominations coming in, BIRDMAN also would perform strongly. Mexican Visionary Alejandro González Iñárritu would accept the Award for Best Screenplay, apologizing humbly repeatedly for his English. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton would make one of the biggest Comebacks witnessed in Hollywood after a reaching great success in the early ’90s with the Batman Franchise, going-on to win Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his performance as troubled Actor Riggan Thomson.
Billy Bob Thorton who won for Best Actor in a TV Mini-Series or Movie for FARGO, and would go on to make the loudest statement tonight accepting this Golden Globe with a simply “Thank You!”, noting that he wanted to stay out of trouble after arriving on-stage stating he didn’t even get a chance to celebrate. Remember that time he opened his mouth here in Toronto and got in major trouble? Let’s take a walk down Memory Lane here.
Kevin Spacey also was acting naughty, making reference to his Frank Underwood on Netflix‘s House of Cards’ initials during a pre-broadcast Red Carpet Special and while accepting his Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series Drama, he once again dropped an “F Bomb” which fortunately was censored in-time.
Newcomer Gina Rodriguez certainly has stamped her place among Hollywood’s Elite winning Best Actress in a Comedy, TV Series for her work on adapted Telenovela, Jane the Virgin. The Series airs on The CW in the U.S. and streams in Canada on Shomi.
Don Cheadle and Julianna Margulies were assigned the task of presenting the Cecil B. DeMille Award this year to recently-wed George Clooney. Show-stealing on the Red Carpet with his Wife Amal in Dior, he took a moment to thank his one true love on the Podium. “I’ve had a pretty good year”, he reflects. “It’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love – even better if you’ve been waiting your whole life – when your life has been 53 years. Amal whatever alchemy it was that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your Husband.”.
Among tonight’s winning looks on the Red Carpet were an über-glam Jessica Chastain, who won high scores for her low-plunging, lamé Versace Dress – perhaps a taste of the looks to come as she portrays Marilyn Monroe in long-developing Biopic, Blonde. Jennifer Lopez turned heads in a Zuhair Murad Dress Dress reminiscent of her famous Versace Grammy number with its low plunge also which drew an awkward moment as she was presenting with Jeremy Renner who pointed-out her “golden globes”. Taylor Schilling, star of Netflix‘s Orange is the New Black also stunned in a red Ralph Lauren Dress – classic and understated. Amy Adams also was a vision in purple, going-on eventually to win Best Actress in Comedy or Musical for Big Eyes. Julianne Moore despite getting some mixed reaction, wins big points from us for her sparkly Givenchy number, dazzling on-stage as she accepted Best Actress in a Drama for Still Alice.
Hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey – reuniting for a third time and claiming this would be their last – once again were sophisticated and witty, their jokes ranging from side-by-side comparisons between Filmmakers and Actors they’d rather bed to Nominee Emma Stone being compared to a “creepy” Margaret Keane painting. Even Meryl Streep sent her compliments as she presented the Award for Best Drama.

Bailee Madison certainly is a name to watch out for, but make no mistake, the Florida-born Teen actress certainly isn’t a Newbie – she actually is quite seasoned nine years strong in the industry! She’s starred alongside Hollywood’s A-List ranging from Billy Crystal (Parental Guidance), Hillary Swank (Conviction), Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverley Place), Josh Hutcherson (Bridge to Terabithia) to Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman (Brothers).
The charming 15-year-old Actress, who counts fellow Young Hollywood Star Hailee Steinfeld among her BFFs, currently is in Toronto filming Hallmark Channel Series The Good Witch, wrapping in the City February.
We ran into Madison as she was headed out with her Mom to get some candles after a few weeks away for the Holidays, something she tells me is ‘their thing’. Madison just returned from L.A., where she celebrated in a beautiful blue dress inspired by her Idol Taylor Swift at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. But how is she adjusting to the time change? She tells me after chatting with her friends online last night, adorably she woke up with some chocolate on her face – a pic she says may wind up on Instagram later! Love her.
She also predicted to me her Friend Gina Rodriguez of Jane The Virgin would win a Golden Globe tonight and she was totally right!

Ignore those nasty Reviews, Audiences still v. much are in-love with TAKEN. In an opening as explosive as the Action the Franchise is known for, the Trilogy Finale starring once again Liam Neeson, takes-in $40.4 million for 20th Century Fox from 3.594 theatres. In comparison to its Predecessors, this latest Installment doesn’t quite eclipse the opening weekend success of 2012’s TAKEN 2, which brought-in $49 million in its debut. It does however surpass 2009’s first Installment, which opened with $24 million. Critics were unanimous in their snubbing with an 11% on the Tomatometer, but Audiences gave it a solid B+ CinemaScore. Made for $48 million, it looks well on its way to turning a profit.
Paramount Pictures‘ big Oscar Vehicle SELMA opens with $11 million from 2,179 theatres, Both Audiences and Critics alike agree that the Ava DuVernay Film is phenomenal, with an A+ CinemaScore and a matching 98% CinemaScore.
UNBROKEN continues to show amazing consistency, landing in third in its third week out with $8.2 million for Universal Pictures, just surpassing the $100 million-mark domestically.
Disney‘s INTO THE WOODS places fifth this weekend with $8.68 million, also surpassing the $100 million-mark in three weeks. The Film is up for Best Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globe Awards, although it is seen widely as an Outsider in the Oscar race.
THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES finds itself in fifth spot in its fourth week out with $8.61 million for Warner Bros. It thus far has made $235 million in its North American run.
In sixth with $7 million is The Weinstein Co./Elevation Pictures’ THE IMITATION GAME which continues its Oscar Trail with a major piece of the puzzle in its fate being unveiled at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards.
THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, PART 1 rounds-out the Top Ten with $3.6 million for eOne Films/Lionsgate Films, now in its eighth week out and a dazzling $329 million grossed domestically to-date.
Known and adored much for her star-making role as Mary Ann on popular ’60s Sitcom Gilligan’s Island, Dawn Wells makes a rare visit to Toronto in support of her best-selling Memoir, What Would Mary Ann Do?
The former Miss Nevada and University of Washington Graduate is to appear at the Toronto Boat Show where she will be meeting Fans and signing copies of her Book all weekend long.
Although much time has passed since the days of Gilligan’s Island, Wells possesses a timeless beauty to her as you can see below. Despite it being face-numbingly cold in the City, she has been zipping from interview to interview in a snappy navy Captain’s jacket. Stops on her Press Tour have included Global‘s The Morning Show, City‘s Breakfast Television, Sirius XM, CBC, KISS 92.5 and 680 NEWS.
“I’m not wearing a coat, but yes, quickly!”, she says to the Selfie request after chatting at length graciously in the lobby with a starstruck Shaw Media employee seeking a Photo after her Morning Show appearance.

Fans of HBO‘s GIRLS have a lot to look forward to as Season Four of the beloved Lena Dunham-created Series premieres this Sunday, January 11, 2015! I’ve had a chance to preview a few episodes of the new Season thus far and can say that this by far is my fave. The Series which has taken a turn to the darker in the previous two Seasons focuses back on the Stories and the individual journeys each of our four Heroines face. They certainly don’t hold back, going to some uncomfortable places emotionally, starting with Hannah‘s (Dunham) scholastic journey to Iowa where she struggles desperately to fit in. Is it already too late for her to patch things up with Adam (Adam Driver)? It also is interesting to see the charismatic Shoshaanna (Zosia Mamet) have to face humility as she begins her job search. And of course, we love Marnie (Allison Williams) deeply and love that we get more of her and her longing for love and her carving her own musical niche.
As the Poster indicates, there’s nowhere to grow but up:

Sunday not only marks the return of GIRLS, but also another personal Fave in LOOKING, the Dramedy which follows right after. As you know, we wholeheartedly loved the first Season of the Series set in San Francisco, centering on the complex love lives of three gay Men. You cannot help but fall in love with these Characters. Their mistakes, their wisdoms. Read me gushing about the Series here.
Seasons Three of GIRLS and Season One of LOOKING now are in stores on Blu-ray and DVD.
Fans of HBO‘s BOARDWALK EMPIRE might be sad that the acclaimed Series has concluded, but you can re-live its greatness with its fifth and final Season being released on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD next Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
Official Synopsis:
Concluding a powerful and groundbreaking run, Season 5 jumps forward six full years to 1931. In stark contrast with the Roaring ‘20s, the country is in the throes of the Great Depression, and with the end of Prohibition in sight, Nucky (Steve Buscemi) is looking to legitimize himself by forging alliances with liquor producers. Featuring four audio commentaries and eight “Scouting the Boardwalk” location pieces that take fans behind-the-scenes of the final Season.
