We love us some Eli Roth and it’s been a long time since we’ve heard from him. This new Trailer for DEATH WISH has just surfaced and believe us, you need to brace yourself for a thrill ride!
Synopsis:
In this modern retelling of the 1972 novel of the same name, surgeon Dr. Paul Kersey’s (Bruce Willis) wife Lucy (Elisabeth Shue) and daughter Jordan (Camila Morrone) are brutally attacked during a home invasion while he’s at work. Although Jordan survives, Lucy dies and Kersey feels like a failure due to his inability to protect them.
When the police don’t seem to be putting much effort into tracking down the killers, Kersey decides to find every single man involved and hunt them down. His vigilantism begins to make headlines as his efforts also help other people from getting hurt by the same men.

2017 was another one for the books! Inasmuch as I sometimes fail to appreciate the wonderful things we have access to, it really isn’t until you look back that you realize everything you had. I’m humbled to have experienced so many amazing moments in 2017 whether it be Movies, Music or Celebs. Come join me as I walk down memory lane. While there is nothing but chaos in the world, sometimes this is all we have as an escape!
MOVIES
While we like to think that 2017 was only an ‘okay’ year for Movies, looking back at it all, we actually are quite pleased with the caliber of Films we saw. The year certainly was not short on quality and while the subject matter wasn’t as heavy as some previous years, our heart was filled with love by incredibly beautiful stories like Call Me By Your Name or fascinating escapes into the minds of the infamous like I, Tonya and Molly’s Game. We were dazzled by the magnificence of The Greatest Showman and don’t think we’ve ever laughed as hard as seeing the severely-underrated Girls Trip!

SONGS
While 2017 was a solid year for Film, I felt it was inversely a spotty year for Pop Music and believe me, I love Pop. I struggled to compile ten of my favourites reflecting the year.
As much as I wanted to dislike Taylor Swift‘s reputation Album, I found myself loving it more immensely the more I held back. And who’d ever have thought I’d have loved Harry Styles’ debut Disc as much as I did? It ranks still as my favourite Album of 2017 led by Sign of the Times. In addition to this, we loved discovering the OST to The Greatest Showman late in the year, which is track after track of infectious perfection. Dua Lipa also is an uncovered gem and we can’t wait for more from this stunning beauty.

#BOXOFFICE: “STAR WARS” ON-TOP A THIRD WEEK
STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI continues its Holiday Box Office domination with $55 million from 4,232 theatres in its third week out for Disney. It has made $537 million already to-date domestically.
JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE lands in second with $51.4 million from 3,765 theatres for Sony Pictures in week two . It has made $185 million thus far.
PITCH PERFECT lands in third in its second week $18.2 million from 3,468 theatres for Universal Pictures. It already has made $69.9 million in North America.
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN benefits from positive word of mouth in fourth spot in its second week making $15.4 million from 3,316 theatres, a total $54 million already for 20th Century Fox.
DARKEST HOUR is in sixth with $5.5 million for Focus Features/Universal Pictures. It has made $19.9 million over six weeks. It is playing in only 943 theatres.
ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD debuts in seventh with $5.1 million for Sony Pictures, from 2,074 theatres. It gets 77% on the Tomatometer from Critics and also an A CinemaScore.
THE SHAPE OF WATER rounds-out the Top Ten with $3.6 million from 756 theatres for Fox Searchlight. It has made $17.1 million domestically.

The real world may have been a complete nightmare in 2017, but the celluloid world was nothing short of incredible. Each month gifted us with exceptional films that continually surpassed any and all expectations. While there were some terrible stinkers sprinkled throughout, 2017 will go down as a banner year for cinema. There was something for everyone, from blockbusters to indies to everything in-between, and it was incredibly hard to narrow down a list of just 10 of those films. I could easily list 10-20 more genuinely outstanding pictures — it was really that great of a year. And while there is a dark cloud over Hollywood right now, I’d like to think this year’s films prove that we are finally moving in the right direction instead of reliving the past.

These are the movies that moved me the most this year. Many of them performed poorly with regards to revenue and reviews. Nevertheless, I enjoyed them deeply, and in my own way. They are all passion projects that were beautiful to behold. So much so that I don’t have an overall “favourite.” I have “favourites,” and I can’t wait to find ten more in 2018.

I found it incredibly difficult to narrow down my list this year. Presented as always in alphabetical order, this list does not include Logan, Wonder Woman or Baby Driver but does include a movie that was criminally left off TIFF’s list for Canada’s Top Ten. I included a comedy that had people falling off their seats and one that reflects what my family looks like. I also snuck in some early favourites to balance out my top two foreign films from TIFF ’17 and a late entry which blew me away. Finally, I rounded out my top twelve with a few hits from TIFF that will definitely be making a comeback during Oscar season.

My Top Ten are in no particular order. In my Top Ten there are Films that I found unique, told honest depictions of the human condition and/or pushed the boundaries of filmmaking. All the Films showcase outstanding acting, writing and direction done by all involved. These Films are in my Top Ten because no matter what time they came out throughout 2017 they have stayed with me until the end. And will probably stay with me throughout the years to come. Hope you enjoyed them if you have seen them. And I hope you seek out the ones you haven’t!
