Honestly, where did the summer go?  We have had the busiest August-September ever but we’re happy to catch a breather finally and take in what a productive year it’s been so far. I’ll admit my birthday this year is going to be extra tough without having Billy around, but what one can do is surround themselves with those they love and what better way to lift my spirits than to see our Princess and Prince this weekend?

Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) was such a sight for sore eyes. We’re so happy to see her back to her old self. She was beginning to get a bit antsy being on stall rest and also coming out of it, but she seems to have calmed down significantly thanks to the amazing work of her new mom Emily Fisher. Emily has been so patient bringing her around and Princess has never looked better! Cathy, Princess’ former owner was excited to see her as it had been a while and I decided to bring Amanda from Team Mr. Will, plus my BFF Habeyah up to see her. Amanda and Habeyah were a bit hesitant to feed Princess treats because she is so tall and towering, but after showing them the way – hands flat with carrots laid-out on the palm – they realized quickly there was nothing to be afraid of! They actually found Princess to be quite gentle and fuzzy.  She definitely loves her treats so it should be no surprise how much she loves dressing-up for Halloween. We had so many little get-ups for Princess to try on and she nailed all the looks!

So Princess also has an exciting new neighbour. Fort Erie‘s newly-crowned Horse of the year and veteran warrior SNIPER has retired officially and I’m happy to report they are in love! A celebrity power couple!

Our little Prince William (Mr Will) recently returned home to his family’s farm in Mono after a summer of training at Woodbine Racetrack. After training very forwardly, he’s had some minor setbacks and his Owner/Trainer Michelle Love has confirmed he will debut in 2020. She is very excited about his potential and she is doing the right thing, taking her time with him.
 
We made a quick visit to see him and he was in great spirits, taking handfuls of Peppermints from me. The handsome little devil looked so happy running around nursing a small cut he got playing with one of the new additions to the family. William‘s sis Anastasia (Show Some Skin) will make her debut this weekend and we’re so excited finally for our schedule to line-up right to see her run!

 

 

Now we did try the Halloween costumes with Mr Will but he wasn’t quite feeling it!

 
…but we love him all the same. What a face!

 

Earlier this Summer, Emily was kind enough to throw us a BBQ and Mr Will and Princess’ worlds both collided!

While it doesn’t quite match the feat of its Predecessor, MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL opens on-top for Disney in its bow with $37 million from 3,790 theatres. It gets 41% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore. The previous installment in 2014 opened with $69.4 million.

In second after two weeks on-top, is JOKER with $28.3 million from 4,090 theatres for Warner Bros., a total $346 million grossed thus far in North America.

In third is ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP with $26.5 million for Sony Pictures from 3,468 theatres. This bests its 2009 Predecessor which opened with $24 million. It gets 68% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.

HUSTLERS is in right with $2 million from 1,575 theatres for STX Entertainment/Elevation Pictures, taking it just past the $100 million-mark donestically in six weeks.

IT: CHAPTER TWO rounds-out this Top Ten with $1.4 million from 1,528 theatres, a seven week run of $209.5 million. It just edges-out critical darling PARASITE, which from just 30 theatres, takes $1.38 million for Neon/MK2.

Roland Emmerich is back in Toronto and he is here to  promote his latest epic, MIDWAY. The Film centers on the Battle of Midway and boasts an all-star Cast including Ed Skrein, Nick Jonas, Darren Criss, Patrick Wilson, Mandy Moore and Woody Harrelson!

So I met some of the Toronto Raptors. All of them basically!  Friday night was an unsuspecting night. I was to pick-up a friend at the airport visiting from L.A.  Low and behold I notice Marc Gasol of the Raptors coming out of arrivals. And then another. And another. They were basically coming from all directions, but then I remembered the team was just in Tokyo for a couple exhibition matches last week and it was my luck that I was at the right place at the right time! There are several new faces this season, but it’s exciting seeing these and familiar stars from the Team! We did see Kyle Lowry but he was busy with his family so we didn’t want to bother. No sign of Coach Nick Nurse, sadly!

The Raptors return to Scotiabank Arena, coincidentally on my birthday October 22, 2019, against the New Orleans Pelicans. Happy early birthday, indeed!

JOKER is still laughing, taking top spot at the Box Office with $45.8 million from 4,374 theatres in its second week. Its run takes it to $137 million in North America for Warner Bros.

In second is THE ADDAMS FAMILY, debuting with $30 million from 4,007 theatres for Universal Pictures. It gets 42% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.

GEMINI MAN opens in third with $20 million from 3,642 theatres for Paramount Pictures. It gets 26% on Rotten Tomatoes and a better B+ CinemaScore from Audiences.

ABONIMABLE lands in fourth with $7.7 million, a total $49.5 million over three weeks for Universal Pictures.

JEXI debuts with $3.5 million from 2,332 theatres for CBS Films/eOne Films. It gets 15% on the Tomatometer and a B- CinemaScore.

AD ASTRA rounds-out the Top Ten with $2 million for 20th Century Fox/Disney.
