Synopsis:

Each year at Christmas they disrupt his tranquil solitude with their increasingly bigger, brighter and louder celebrations. When the Whos declare they are going to make Christmas three times bigger this year, the Grinch realizes there is only one way for him to gain some peace and quiet: he must steal Christmas. To do so, he decides he will pose as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, even going so far as to trap a lackadaisical misfit reindeer to pull his sleigh.

Meanwhile, down in Who-ville, Cindy-Lou Who—a young girl overflowing with holiday cheer—plots with her gang of friends to trap Santa Claus as he makes his Christmas Eve rounds so that she can thank him for help for her overworked single mother. As Christmas approaches, however, her good-natured scheme threatens to collide with the Grinch’s more nefarious one. Will Cindy-Lou achieve her goal of finally meeting Santa Claus? Will the Grinch succeed in silencing the Whos’ holiday cheer once and for all?

Comprised of eight stories, the Anthology Series from the Creator of Mad Men, Matt Weiner (who produces, directs and writes) now is available to stream on Amazon Prime. The Series features star-studded Cast including Isabelle Huppert, Jack Huston, John Slattery, Aaron Eckhart, Kathryn Hahn, David Sutcliffe, Corey Stoll, Amanda Peet, Andrew Rannells, Paul Reiser, Diane Lane and more! Set in various locations around the world, each story centers on people who believe they are descendants of the Royal Russian family.

We’ve taken a quick glance at the Series and each episode is like a Movie in itself, shot beautifully and looking every dollar of its $70 million budget. Tensions are high and the Actors get a chance to shine. The Series should find a home with those who love Family Dramas. First episode THE VIOLET HOUR stars  Marthe Keller as a savage Anushka, whom Greg (Eckhart) and Sophie (Louise Bourgoin) are waiting to pass to inerhit her coveted apartment. The arrival of new housekeeper Hajar (Inès Melab) shakes things up and she unpeels a layer off each character. While a bit of a slow burn, you have to be patient and let it all unravel. Curious to see what other juicy stories await in the Anthology.

We’ve loved Katherine Heigl for what seems like forever and we aren’t sure what’s taken her so long to come out this way!  The Emmy Award winner and star of successes Grey’s Anatomy, Knocked Up, 28 Dresses, New Year’s Eve and The Nut Job began work on season eight of acclaimed U.S.A. Network Series SUITS this past spring in Toronto.

While she’s been spotted on set in Financial District many times, we found her finally as she returned back to work after a week off in her beloved snowy Utah, which she called home before relocating here to work on the Series. In fact, she even got married there to husband, Country Crooner Josh Kelley.

Heigl has received warm reception for her role on SUITS in which she stars as Samantha Wheeler, a ruthless and hardworking lawyer joining Specter Litt and continues to work on the Production through November in the City.

Travelling solo today, she looked every bit the star despite being incognito in sunglasses and was extremely kind to stop for a moment to chat and snap Selfies with Billy and I before looking for a taxi. She was everything we had hoped and is just as gorgeous in person!

We’ll be the first to say that 2017’s delicious Thriller UNFORGETTABLE was so underrated. Love her.

For a second week straight, VENOM takes the top of the Box Office. Earning $31.7 million in its second week out for Sony Pictures, its tally to date is $138.8 million.

Repeating the order again this weekend, A STAR IS BORN settles for second with a strong $29.6 million, bringing its two-week run to $95.7 million for Warner Bros.

FIRST MAN, seen as an early Oscar Contender debuts in third with $16.8 million for Universal Pictures, from 3,640 theatres. This latest, a Neil Armstrong Biopic from Oscar-winning Director Damien Chazelle, gets a B+ CinemaScore and an 88% on the Tomatometer.

GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN debuts in fourth with $15.7 million from 3,521 theatres, getting 43% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore. Its 2015 Predecessor opened with $23.6 million.

Star-studded BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE opens in sixth with $7.9 million from 2,808 theatres for 20th Century Fox. It gets a B- CinemaScore and a 71% on the Tomatometer.

THE HATE U GIVE, also an Oscar Contender, debuts in ninth with $1.5 million from just 248 theatres in its second week of limited release for 20th Century Fox. 

Rounding-out the Top Ten is A SIMPLE FAVOR with $1.3 million for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films, a total $52 million over five weeks.

The Reel Asian Film Festival is set to take place November 8 to 16, 2018 throughout the greater Toronto area once again. Canada’s top pan-Asian Festival is now in its 22nd year, announcing its lineup earlier today. Over 50% of the 62 Films at Reel Asian are from a diverse 16 regions this year, 50% directed by women.

In addition to some high-profile titles, Reel Asian introduces for the first time ever, a VR Installation. Homestay is brought to us by Creator Paisley Smith. It takes us right inside one family’s experience  with international students, looking at immersion, clash and what we can take away from it.

Canadian Director Min Sook Lee is spotlighted with her Film, Hogtown: The Politics of Policing returning to the screen after its award-winning debut at Hot Docs more than ten years ago. It takes another look how the Toronto Police Services Board stands today versus then. A panel discussion is to follow.
