Synopsis:
Missing Link follows myths and monsters investigator, Sir Lionel Frost, who sets off on an adventure to the Pacific Northwest to prove the existence of a legendary creature—Mr. Link. Frost, who’s also looking to gain acceptance by his small-minded explorer peers, is accompanied on his journey by Adelina Fortnight, a free-spirited, independent adventurer who just so happens to possess the only known map to their secret destination of trying to find Link.

Nominated for an incredible eight Golden Horse Awards (Chinese Cinema’s ‘Oscars’), DEAR EX is set to premiere tomorrow night at the Reel Asian International Film Festival tomorrow night in Toronto! The Film, co-directed by Mag Hsu and Hsu Chih-yen is a first-time effort, all the more impressive as they are known for Television work in their native Taiwan. The Writer-Directors are in town to promote the acclaimed Drama starring Taiwanese Television star Roy Chiu who also came for the occasion. Chiu also is nominated for Best Actor. While the fate of the Film has yet to be revealed with the Awards taking place next weekend, Toronto audiences are in for a treat.

DEAR EX centers on a woman who loses her husband, only to discover that her husband designated his lover Jay (played by Chiu) as the beneficiary of his life insurance. Ready to do battle for the inheritance, her son finds himself siding with his father’s lover. The Film raises important and timely questions about acceptance as same-sex relationships and LGBTQ rights are at the forefront of discussion in Taiwan.

I’m dreaming of a woof Christmas!  Taking place November 24 and 25 at the International Centre, the Toronto Christmas Pet Expo is set to warm our hearts just one month before Christmas itself!  We’re tired of shopping and dining establishments not allowing us to share holiday joy with our furry loved ones, so this is a dream come true! Shopping, entertainment, celeb sightings and best of all, free parking make for a joyous time. We cannot wait to see the vendors and all the cute offerings they’ll have available! Synopsis:

As well, Lisbeth gets a visit from a mysterious man who tries to kill her. She discovers a criminal organization is behind the hacking, led by her estranged twin sister Camilla (Sylvia Hoeks), who was left behind in the care of their sexually abusive father when Lisbeth escaped. Now, in order to get revenge, Camilla is trying to frame Lisbeth for murders committed by the criminal organization.

Sony Pictures Canada release THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB Friday, November 9, 2018.

Moviegoers rocked-out to BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY this weekend, debuting atop the Box Office with $48.9 million from 4,000 theatres for 20th Century Fox. The Freddie Mercury Biopic gets 59% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore, with its star Rami Malek getting major Awards Season buzz for his portrayal. The Film was made for $48 million.

In second is another debut, THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS for Disney with $20.2 million, from 3,766 theatres. The Film starring Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley and Helen Mirren, gets 35% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore.

In third is Paramount Pictures Comedy NOBODY’S FOOL with $13.8 million from 2,468 theatres. It gets 25% on the Tomatometer and an A- CinemaScore.

HALLOWEEN is in fourth with $11.1 million for Universal Pictures, a total $150 million over four weeks domestically.

A STAR IS BORN finds itself in fifth with $10.7 million for Warner Bros., now having made $165.2 million.

THE HATE U GIVE is in ninth with $3.5 million for 20th Century Fox, a total $23.5 million grossed in its run thus far.

Rounding things out is SMALLFOOT with $3.1 million for Warner Bros., a total $76.7 million to-date.

We’re sure by now all of you know what a huge fan and ambassador to Horse Racing we are! We are for the first time ever at Churchill Downs in Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby for the sport’s two championship days this weekend, the Breeder’s Cup! We’re thrilled about this and taking-in the history and energy.

With Triple Crown winner Justify being absent from the Breeders’ Cup Classic, this leaves the marquee $6 million affair wide-open with John Sadler trainee Accelerate leading the charge. If there were anyone who knows how to win the headliner, that would be Justify‘s trainer, Bob Baffert who comes armed with a duo comprised of the fresh West Coast who ran second last year and McKinzie.

Canadian content is abundant this year with leading two-year-old Woodbine filly, My Gal Betty ready to go for Hall of Fame Trainer Roger Attfield in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. She was a game second in the Grade I Natalma Stakes to La Pelosa (IRE) and once again faces her.

European superfilly and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Enable will be there in-person and squaring-off with among others, Ontario-bred Channel Maker who won the Breeder’s Stakes at Woodbine last year. They vie for the winner’s share of $4 million in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Classic.

We’ll be seeing Canada’s queen Wonder Gadot ready to do battle for owner Gary Barber and leading Woodbine trainer Mark Casse. She is up against the big girls including three-year-old filly division leaders Midnight Bisou and Monomoy Girl in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

Casse also sends-out among others, War of Will, a game second in the Summer Stakes back in September at Woodbine, plus locally-based Shamrock Rose in the Breeder’s Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.

Two Canadian-bred colts based in Europe have their eyes set on glory in Sergei Prokofiev and Van Beethoven, the former bred by our friend David Anderson, who also bred Wonder Gadot.

Yvonne Schwabe-bred Conquest Tsunami who has found new life in a California for owner Gary Barber stands a big chance in the Breeder’s Cup Turf Sprint.

Ricoh Woodbine Mile winner Oscar Performance looks to repeat his September feat in the Breeder’s Cup Turf Mile.

The favourite in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies is Bellafina,  a daughter of Woodbine-based Akron Moon, who was trained by Mark Frostad.

Woodbine-based jockey Luis Contreras arrives at Churchill Downs to ride Warrior’s Club for legendary Trainer D Wayne Lukas and also Bravazo in the Breeder’s Cup Mile.
