Today, BritBox announced The Other Bennet Sister will premiere on May 6, 2026 and released a new teaser trailer. Based on Janice Hadlow’s acclaimed novel, the new drama brings Mary Bennet – the oft-overlooked middle sister in Pride and Prejudice – into the spotlight. The series is produced by Bad Wolf (His Dark Materials, Industry) in a co-production with the BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Sarah Quintrell (The Power, Ellen) wrote nine of the ten half-hour episodes, with Maddie Dai (We Were Dangerous) writing one episode. The series, which was filmed in Wales, is directed by Jennifer Sheridan (Extraordinary) and Asim Abbasi (Cake).

The story begins at Longbourn, the Bennet family home, where Mr. and Mrs Bennet preside over a lively household of five unmarried daughters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. As society’s pressures mount, the Bennet sisters navigate the glittering yet precarious world of Regency England, where marriage is both aspiration and necessity. While her sisters pursue romance and social triumph, Mary embarks on a very different path. Leaving Longbourn behind, she travels to London to live with her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs Gardiner, in their elegant home on Gracechurch Street. There, Mary begins a journey of self-discovery, stepping out of the shadows and into her own story. Iconic settings from Pride and Prejudice, include the Meryton Assembly Ball and the Netherfield Ball, where fortunes and futures are decided under glittering chandeliers.

In honor of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday on December 16th, BritBox has curated “Austen Forever,” a six-month programming slate celebrating the author’s enduring legacy. Expanding BritBox’s existing Jane Austen library, available to stream now, the collection will debut film and television adaptations alongside documentaries exploring her life and influence. GameTV and Paramount+ in Canada today announced the premiere of HATE THE PLAYER: THE BEN JOHNSON STORY, an audacious six-part mockumentary reimagining of the “dirtiest race in history” that is equal parts absurdist comedy and cultural critique. The first two episodes of the series will premiere March 26, 2026 on GameTV and will be available to stream on Paramount+ in Canada March 27, 2026, with two new episodes released weekly.

The series is created by BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated writer Anthony Q. Farrell (The Office, Shelved, Run the Burbs), who also serves as showrunner and Executive Producer.

Directed by R.T. Thorne (The Porter) and Cory Bowles (Trailer Park Boys), the series is set against the backdrop of the 1988 Summer Games and the doping scandal that dominated global headlines. HATE THE PLAYER gleefully blurs the line between fact, fiction, and fever dream as Johnson self-funds a documentary to “set the record straight,” pulling viewers into a world of ethically questionable coaching, performance-enhancing coverups, and misguided redemption.

Shamier Anderson (John Wick: Chapter 4, Invasion) stars as Ben Johnson, with Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor (Greenland, The Babysitter) as Johnson’s American competitor Carl Lewis. When Antler first opened, its emphasis on game meats, foraging, and hunting felt both daring and unfamiliar. The team initially kept chicken on the menu as a “safe” option—only to remove it when guests repeatedly gravitated toward the wild dishes instead.

Over the past decade, Toronto’s dining scene has evolved, and so has its appetite for curiosity. Antler became a touchstone for that shift, earning recognition from the MICHELIN Guide, appearing in Toronto Life’s Best New Restaurant lists, and receiving praise from The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star.

The Evolved Canadiana Concept
At its core, Antler’s philosophy remains unchanged. The team continues to hunt, fish, forage, and travel—bringing lived experiences and stories back into the dining room.

What has evolved is the scope. Rather than centering solely on wild game, Antler’s renewed vision embraces a wider view of Canadian abundance: seafood and freshwater fish, vegetables, and farmed ingredients sit alongside the wild. Global techniques and flavour profiles are layered in naturally, reflecting the multicultural reality of Canada today.

“Canadian cuisine, for me, is about what grows here, what’s wild, what’s farmed, and our terroir,” says Hunter. “But it’s also about how those ingredients are interpreted. Canada is diverse—and that has to be part of the story.”

About the Food Program
The updated menu is grounded in approachability, built around recognizable dishes executed with thoughtful, seasonal nuance. Plates are refined but unfussy, designed to feel generous, intentional, and distinctly Canadian.

Expect items like smoked swordfish carpaccio with lemon vinaigrette, blood orange, Granny Smith apple, mostarda, pistachio crumble, and shaved fennel, unveiled tableside, alongside whole BC rainbow trout with charred eggplant caviar, tomato water, carrot nage, and smoked pickerel crème fraîche, and Ontario bison tomahawk with buttermilk corn-dredged onion rings and game jus.

The menu will change quarterly, evolving with the seasons while leaving room for small, thoughtful adjustments along the way.

About the Cocktail Program

Antler’s bar program is led by Sudhan Sivakumaran, lead mixologist and assistant general manager, whose approach mirrors the kitchen’s ethos.

Canadian spirits take centre stage, including cocktails built around Antler Cedar Gin, developed in collaboration between the restaurant and local distillery Nickel 9. The drinks are designed to feel grounded and expressive—rooted in place, without being overly literal.

About the Wine Program

Antler’s wine program is curated by sommelier and general manager Jade White, with a strong focus on Canadian producers. These bottles sit alongside a carefully selected international list that brings balance and perspective to the menu.

The goal isn’t strict locality, but thoughtful balance—highlighting wines that pair seamlessly with the menu while telling a broader story about craftsmanship and place.

The renovation is intentionally understated. Lighter finishes, softened textures, and subtle accents reference the outdoors without leaning rustic.
With seating for 40 guests, including 12 at the bar, Antler remains intimate and deeply rooted in its Dundas West neighbourhood, a community that has supported the restaurant through its early years, the pandemic, and beyond.

The 2026 Special Award recipients are:

The Changemaker Award honours a Canadian media professional who is actively engaged in advancing equity and inclusion by confronting racism and discrimination, amplifying underrepresented perspectives, and working toward systemic change within the industry. This year’s award is presented to maxine bailey, a dynamic member of Toronto’s arts community who currently serves as Executive Director of the Canadian Film Centre (CFC). Previously, bailey served as the Vice-President of Advancement at TIFF where she founded Share Her Journey, a fundraising commitment to achieving gender parity both on and off screen.

The Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism, presented to a Canadian broadcast journalist for their exceptional body of work in broadcast journalism, is awarded to Hazel Mae. A member of the Sportsnet’s on-air talent team since 2001, Mae has brought extensive television experience and knowledge to the network’s MLB coverage. Currently a member of the Toronto Blue Jays TV broadcast crew as on-field reporter, Mae brings the sights, sounds, and entertaining player interviews alive for viewers.

The Academy Icon Award, presented to a Canadian individual or institution for their exceptional, ongoing contribution to the media industry at home or abroad, is bestowed upon Mike Myers. Myers is one of the most multi­faceted performers of his generation. As an actor, writer, and producer he has brought an astonishing array of memorable characters to life in film and television, including Wayne Campbell, Austin Powers, Dr. Evil, and Shrek. Among his many accolades, Myers has received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and on Canada’s Walk of Fame.

The Sustainable Production Award, presented by CBC, recognizes a Canadian production that has demonstrated leadership, innovation, excellent performance, and commitment to integrating sustainable production practices. This year, the award is presented to Chandler Levack’s Mile End Kicks. For this film, sustainable practice wasn’t just operational, it was embedded in the creative and community impact of the project. Led by Eco Set Manager Mérédith Gonzalez-Bayard, Mile End Kicks modelled what meaningful environmental leadership looks like with on-screen depictions of greener behaviours, local sourcing, and strong engagement with neighbourhood businesses. They achieved measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions by choosing nearby locations, eliminating idling, facilitating carpooling and active transit, and even offsetting airfare.

All of this year’s Special Award recipients will be recognized at the award presentations taking place from May 28 to May 31 during Canadian Screen Week 2026.
