To say that British import Ricky Whittle‘s fanbase is ardent is an understatement. The Actor whom just parted ways with The CW‘s hit series The 100, quickly turned around and landed a starring role in upcoming Starz series American Gods. Whittle has not minced words in his opinion about a certain producer for cutting his story lines on that series and fans have been vocal, rallying in support of him.

American Gods centers on ex-convict Shadow (Whittle) who meets a mysterious man named Wednesday (Ian McShane) who seems to know more about him and his past than initially thought. Emily Browning and Sean Harris star also.

The Series begins production later this month in the City, running through the fall, with read-throughs beginning next week.

We spotted Whittle arriving with luggage in-tow, set for an extended stay. With a group of Fans waiting on him, he was beyond nice to stop and greet everybody individually. We know one of our readers Mel in Ottawa loves him dearly and we got him to do a quick shout-out!

12-year-old child actor Neel Sethi is a name to look out for. The New York-born emerging star makes his big screen debut in Jon Favreau‘s live action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling‘s The Jungle Book.

Sethi stars in the leading role of Mowgli, alongside a stacked cast including the voices of Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johnansson, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Lupita Nyong’o and Idris Elba. The late Gary Shandling also appears as Ikki.

The Jungle Book centers on a feral boy raised by wolves in central India. After his life is threatened with humans being banished from the jungle, he goes on an adventurous journey of self-discovery.

A dapper Sethi was out and about this morning doing press in the City and stopped for photos and autographs, well-cared for by his team (including his proud parents) who travelled in a Mercedes Sprinter! This is just a taste of what’s ahead for this bright young talent!

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Canada release THE JUNGLE BOOK Friday, April 15, 2016.

Asian Luxury Skin Care giant SK-II comes out of nowhere and gives us the feels with this new Short Film as part of their #ChangeDestiny campaign. The Film tackles the subject of being single as a woman past the age of 27 in China in the face of parental and societal pressures to marry. It culminates in an experience at a Shanghai Marriage Market, where parents try to find partners for their unwed children. The women interviewed agree to attend with their parents, but not for the reason you might think. Anyone can relate.

Okay, we really loved The Force Awakens, but this new Trailer for STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE really excites us! This new first look gives us a taste of the intensity and melodrama to expect of this December release!

We’ve always loved Oscar nominee Felicity Jones and are thrilled for the rest of the world to discover this brilliant star! Godzilla directed Gareth Edwards directs.

No rest for the former Wicked cast! International superstar Adam Lambert finally has a gap in his busy schedule amidst his The Original High Tour to proceed his long-awaited work on FOX‘s Rocky Horror Picture Show. He stars as Eddie in the production, which wraps later this month in Toronto!

Although these pictures don’t do it any justice, a silver-maned Lambert was nice off v. little rest last night, stopping to chat with Fans and sign autographs. He declined the Selfie but we’ve met him on prior visits for the MuchMusic Video Awards and his Trespassing disc and he was v. nice!

On going without rest Lambert said, “Thank God I don’t have to sing!”, referring the vocals for his part having been recorded in advance for Rocky Horror.

After achieving extraordinary success in their native Denmark, Soul-Pop Quartet LUKAS GRAHAM already are making huge waves in North America. Unless you completely avoid the radio, it has been impossible to avoid their superb introspective ballad 7 Years which not only has dominated airwaves, but their stateside self-titled debut from which it is released, quickly rose to the top of the iTunes Chart upon release this past weekend!

Fronted by charismatic and talented lead vocalist Lukas Graham Forchhammer, the band played an intimate show in Montreal this weekend before treating Toronto fans to a show at the Velvet Underground. They have a quick Press Day scheduled with some radio and TV appearances in the City.

We caught up with the Band as they were strolling the City’s West End and they were so nice to stop for Photos on their way to soundcheck. It is said that their bass guitar got left behind in Montreal but fortunately they found themselves a replacement in time!

Few names have risen as fast in the past year as Model/Actress Ruby Rose. The Australian beauty despite having been in Toronto multiple times already for series Dark Matter and also during TIFF ’15 when she came to DJ and party with BFF Ellen Page, is back for something much more high-profile.  Cast in upcoming installment of the XXX franchise The Return of Xander Cage, Rose continues work on the Blockbuster as femme fatale, Adele, seeing Co-star Vin Diesel back in action and in his element! The Flick by D.J. Caruso just wrapped its Dominican Republic component and will at some point move to the Philippines.

Rose, pardon the pun, has risen to popularity with her role on Netflix‘s ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK as Stella Carlin.  The Series has been renewed another three seasons based on its Award-winning success!

We caught-up with Rose earlier after a celebratory weekend in Los Angeles accepting the GLAAD Stephen Kolzak Award (from Taylor Swift of all people!) for outstanding contributions to the LGBT community and she is just as amazing as we thought she’d be.  Believe me, we had to work for this. We admit, we have a huge crush!

Los Angeles-based Singer-Songwriter Andy Grammer made a huge splash with one of the biggest hits of Summer 2016, Honey I’m Good. The ode to faithfulness and temptation was unavoidable and since then his sophomore disc Magazines or Novels has spawned hit new single Good to Be Alive!

Grammer‘s growing popularity called for two shows this weekend at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, playing two 80-minute sets Friday and Saturday, his sunny brand of Pop bringing the crowd to their feet.

Post-show, we had dinner beside Grammer at the Casino’s diner The Famous and despite Fans coming up to him throughout the night, he was accomodating and kind.

Grammer is Tampa-bound for a show at Busch Gardens next.

Despite a significant dip in its second week out BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, still dominates at the Box Office with $50 million from 4,256 theatres for Warner Bros. In two weeks it has grossed a hefty $259 million domestically.

ZOOTOPIA in its second week out, earns $20.7 million for Disney, a total of $276 million over five weeks.

Toronto-filmed MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING 2 remains still at number three with $11.2 million from 3,179 theatres for Universal Pictures.

Faith-based Drama GOD’S NOT DEAD 2 debuts at fourth spot with $8.2 million from 2,320 theatres for Pure Flix, yet to be released in Canada. It gets a 14% on the Tomatometer.

In fifth is MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN with $7.3 million for Sony Pictures, a surprisingly solid $46 million tally over three weeks.

THE DIVERGENT SERIES: ALLEGIANT is showing visible signs of fatigue for the Young Adult adaptation genre, in sixth with $5.7 million in its third week out for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films.

MEET THE BLACKS debuts in $4 million from 1,014 theatres for Freestyle. It is a Parody of Horror The Purge. No registered reviews for this one yet on Rotten Tomatoes.

DEADPOOL rounds out the Top Ten with $3.7 million for 20th Century Fox. In seven weeks it has become the highest R-rated Film of all time with $355 million earned.

Although his Co-Star Jessica Chastain already has wrapped production on MISS SLOANE, Golden Globe nominee Michael Stuhlbarg continues to be hard at work on the gun control drama filming in Toronto for another week. After gaining wide acclaim from Critics in Dark Comedy A Serious Man, Stuhlbarg‘s star has been on the rise with prominent roles on HBO‘s Boardwalk Empire and last season’s Oscar contenders Trumbo and Steve Jobs.

The Juilliard graduate (where Chastain studied also), will be seen in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.

We weren’t sure it was him when we saw him earlier today, but after he noticed us trying to keep up, he stopped and v. kind to do a Snap!
