After finishing third in the latest season of The Celebrity Traitors last week, James Blunt returns with his eighth studio album Airplane Mode, out now on Atlantic Records. Listen to Airplane Mode HERE.
Featuring twelve tales of life’s colourful journey James took a different approach to his previous albums when recording Airplane Mode. Tracked live at Pig Music Studios with his touring band, James said of the album, “this time around I got my band into a studio in Banbury. It meant I took control of my album, and I made it sound the way I hear it.”
Heavily influenced by the sounds of the 90s Britpop era and combining James’ signature anthemic hooks and nostalgic storytelling, the record is James back to his best. Highlights include the epic track ‘Circles’, which is destined to become a Blunt classic, along with the infectious groove of ‘Oh Daisy’, the poignant ‘Weight Of It All’ and the emotional rawness of ‘Modern Love’.
It’s a return to form for an artist who continually surprises. “Somewhere back there, I lost my way, but found it again in a studio in Banbury,” James says.
James and his band will take the new album on a massive European tour early next year, hitting the UK in the spring. The UK leg kicks off in Leeds March 26th, includes a return visit to London’s 02 Arena April 4th and finishes in Brighton April 8th. Tickets on sale now HERE.
