#PRODUCTWATCH: 2026 HONDA HR-V

We loved it so much, we had to test drive the 2026 Honda HR-V once again! This subcompact SUV is an exceptional value, powered by a 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder engine, operating at 158 @ 6500 horsepower, all beginning with a pushbutton start. If you are looking for value, style and comfort for yourself or your small family, look no further.

Our vehicle was coloured Nordic Forest Pearl, calming to the senses, equipped with three driving modes with the HR-V: Normal/ECON/Snow and a fuel economy of 9.1/7.4/8.3 (city/highway/combined) litres/100 km on regular fuel. We took the HR-V this time on a road trip a few hours away to beautiful Saratoga Springs, and it navigated the distance, giving us plenty of run for our money on a tank of gas.

We were impressed by the HR-V‘s abundance of cargo space at 24.4 cubic feet behind the rear seats. We love to shop and there was no shortage of space for our haul. Drivers get six-way seat manual adjustment with heated seating and steering wheel as well. As a note, neither the HR-V nor its more elevated sibling the CR-V come with seat cooling at this time.

We were sold on the HR-V‘s intuitiveness. We enjoy the piece of mind we get with walk-away lock and proximity entry, giving us one less thing to fuss about, and trust me, this matters when you’ve got multiple bags and your furbaby in-tow – an everyday scenario for us.

While through and through an economical ride, the HR-V still has elevated features like its 17″ aluminum-alloy wheels in Pewter Grey, plus a honeycomb grille in the interior for ventilation. Its one-touch moonroof was enjoyed with the beautiful weather we enjoyed on our road trip. Sometimes it got a little too bright that we opted for shade!

Its 9″ colour touchscreen display is perfect for navigation and entertainment, and as a safety precaution will freeze if it notices you are scrolling too quickly for example, on Spotify via Android Auto (it’s also Apple CarPlay-ready) while driving. While only coming with four speakers, you wouldn’t know it from how full the sound was. The HR-V‘s dual climate zone, wireless charging and three USB-C ports were a huge plus, especially on a road trip, ensuring our phone was fully charged as we drove for hours. We occasionally had some issues though with songs cutting out and the display resetting occasionally while synced to Spotify and were wondering if this is a bug being ironed-out.

Parallel parking and reversing are made simple with the HR-V‘s multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines. Does anyone remember what it was like driving and parking without this, anymore? Unimaginable.

As always, Honda is obsessed with safety, as they should. The HR-V comes with Driver’s and Passenger’s front and side airbags, plus advanced front airbags, and SmartVent™ side airbags, the HR-V comes loaded with safety features. Its Standard Honda Sensing® suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, cross traffic monitors and blind spot information. Honda is doing important work keeping these roads safe. The HR-V also comes with a security system and an immobilizer theft-deterrent system, and of course, it includes childproof rear door locks and also rear seat reminder.
