This year’s Golden Globe Nominees were announced this morning and on-top is Disney‘s Lincoln, leading the way with a superb seven nominations. Its stars Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Daniel Day-Lewis all are up for Awards in the acting categories, while Argo and Django Unchained also each get an impressive five nods. Silver Linings Playbook, Les Les Misérables and Zero Dark Thirty – the latter two which still haven’t been released yet – each tied in third with four nominations as well.
Looking already like wide-open year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association really got it right in this pre-cursor to the Oscars, recognizing Film and Television achievements which the Oscars don’t always consider. Great to see Richard Gere who traditionally gets snubbed at the Oscars, get credit for his work on Arbitrage, while Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture looks like a real Nailbiter as Django Unchained Co-Stars Leonardo Dicaprio and Christoph Waltz going head-to-head with Jones, Alan Arkin (Argo) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (The Master).
