Not many changes this week at the Box Office despite several new releases to come our way. Hot off the news of a possible spin-off for the Franchise starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham, THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS makes it a second week at the top of the Box Office for Universal Pictures with $37 million from 4,329 theatres. Over two weeks domestically it has made $161.9 million.
THE BOSS BABY is in second again this weekend with $11.9 million from 3,697 theatres. a total of $136 million for 20th Century Fox with $136 million over four weeks.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is in third with $10 million for Disney, bringing its six week total to $471 million.
THE PROMISE debuts in fourth for eOne Films/Open Road Films with $4.7 million from 2,251 theatres. The TIFF ’16 selection starring Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac gets a 46% on the Tomatometer and an A- CinemaScore.
Disneynature‘s MADE IN CHINA debuts in fifth with $4.6 million from 1,508 theatres. The Panda Documentary gets an 86% on the Tomatometer and an A- CinemaScore.
UNFORGETTABLE which sees the return of long-absent Katherine Heigl, debuts in ninth with $4.4 million from 2,417 theatres for Warner Bros. Critics gave it a 26% on the Tomatometer and a C CinemaScore from Audiences.
THE LOST OF CITY Z rounds-out the Top Ten with a $2.1 million for Bleecker Street Films/Elevation Pictures expanding to 610 theatres in its second week out. Critics very much loved the Film starring heavyweights Robert Pattinson and Charlie Hunnam with an 88% on the Tomatometer.

I admit it, I love soapy, over-the-top escapism and after seeing this Trailer for UNFORGETTABLE, I officially am sold that this is a cut from the same cloth as the Basic Instincts, The Hand That Rocks the Cradles, Single White Females, Unfaithfuls, Fatal Attractions and Obsesseds of the world. The Classics.
