There is a dark, magical quality to Lana Del Rey‘s Music. It’s almost like watching a suspenseful, moody Mystery every time. Her brand-new Track West Coast from eagerly-awaited upcoming Disc, Ultraviolence, is a gorgeous Ode to falling in love. Although the Album won’t be out till later this year, this is a scintillating taste of what’s to come. It’s a fascinating journey seeing her continue to grow into the stuff of Legends we all know she is.
Just one month till her Toronto Show! One month!

Finally! Right in time for the release of The Great Gatsby, Lana Del Rey releases her brand new Video for its Theme, Young & Beautiful. Directed by Sophie Muller, the Video looks an early ’80s Homage to the ’20s. Del Rey is a vision of beauty and elegance, shimmery tears affixed on that stunning face of hers, full Orchestra accompanying. I’ll admit I was expecting a Video with clips from the Film, but this on its own is simple and classic.

Gatsby giving us Goosebumps! If this doesn’t get you excited for The Great Gatsby, I don’t know what will. Warner Bros. has just released this 1:34 minute Extended TV Spot for one of this Summer’s most eagerly-awaited Films. Paired together with Young & Beautiful by Lana Del Rey, which gets prominent placement in the Film, there is something just absolutely resonant and emotional about this.
I’m completely obsessed with the Track and have been repeating it non-stop of late. Such a pity that in what could be her biggest Crossover Hit, Del Rey is busy touring in Europe right now versus present Stateside giving Young & Beautiful the promotion it really deserves.
Watch the TV Spot below:
Mesmerized. Those of you who follow my Blog know what a huge Fan of Lana Del Rey I am and although I’ve been living off Snippets of her Young & Beautiful for the past couple weeks, I finally got to hear more of it today when screening The Great Gatsby 3-D. In the Film there also is a gorgeous Orchestral Version of the Song and of all the Tracks heard in the Film, this is definitely the most pronounced and fitting of where Baz Luhrmann is going.
Although it takes a few listens, I challenge you not to fall in love with it after seeing The Great Gatsby 3-D.
Say what you will about Del Rey’s Vocals, but the really, really odd thing is that if any other sang this, I wouldn’t be as emphatic about it. There is something inherently lonely and cinematic about Lana Del Rey‘s Performance.

The 2013 BRIT Awards took place tonight at London’s 02 Arena and walking away with top honours tonight was last year’s Critics’ Choice Award Winner Emeli Sandé. The Singer/Songwriter won British Album of the Year for her Disc, Our Version of Events and also won British Female Solo Artist. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Folk Artist Ben Howard was also a big Winner, victorious in the categories of British Breakthrough Artist and British Male Solo Artist, a feat accomplished last year by Crossover Sensation, Ed Sheeran.
Surprising many, Lana Del Rey was awarded International Female Solo Artist defeating the likes of Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and Rihanna. Meanwhile, Frank Ocean was awarded International Male Solo Artist.
22-year-old Folk Artist Tom Odell also was awarded what surely is predictive of future success as we can see from Sandé, the Critics’ Choice Award.
Hot on the heels of their four GRAMMY wins recently, The Black Keys were awarded International Group.

Early last year, I had the pleasure of meeting Sandé who was just visiting Toronto for the first time:

“I drive fast/Wind in my hair/Push it to the limits ’cause I just don’t care.”
It’s been a long while since we’ve heard from Seductress Siren Lana Del Rey and her latest Track Burning Desire just saw its Video release today. Although it’s not officially a Track on her recently release Paradise EP, it is featured as an iTunes Bonus Track. The moody Piece is something we’d come to expect from Del Rey and although simple, the images vividly become imprinted in my mind after just a couple viewings. Del Rey walking a Jaguar, a Jaguar Convertible in high gear and the Songstress singing in an empty theatre, suggestively caressing her Microphone. The Song itself and Video presumably also are being used to promote a new F-Type series Car by that Auto Manufacturer.

“I’m tired of feeling like I’m f*cking crazy/I’m tired of driving till I see stars in my eyes…”.
Following her much-discussed Saturday Night Live performance, Lana Del Rey smartly has re-grouped and boy, is she ever back with a bang! Hot on the heels of her high-profile gig as the new face of H&M‘s Fall 2012 Collection, Del Rey now is ready to release The Paradise Edition of her Debut, Born to Die on November 12, 2012 via Universal Music Canada. Her latest Single, Ride gets a release today and its’ Las Vegas-filmed Video is soon to surface.
In a similar vein to her Track Born to Die in terms of mood – haunting, plodding, introspective – one cannot deny that Del Rey does sound much more confident on this latest recording. It’s only a matter of time before she has her full-on Crossover to Airwaves from the iPods of Hipsters, regardless if that is her intention or not. You can just feel it ready to burst.
