It was an evening of pure sartorial elegance at Shangri-La Hotel Toronto as Fête Chinoise 2016 occupied the luxurious five-diamond property in Financial District.
Spread over nine spaces each with unique concepts, artists were given no boundaries in re-inventing the real estate, taking inspiration from the historic depths of Chinese culture.
The celebration of beauty brought out a who’s-who in the Chinese-Canadian community, with a fashionable crowd dressed to the nines and Veuve Cliquot pouring endlessly into champagne flutes.
The affair catered by Shangri-La itself, saw guests dining on haute-cuisine including Pork Belly Bao dressed like Peking Duck… Scones with Pandan Curd x Chinese Tea, Calamari boxes, Hong Kong-style Egg Tarts, Chocolate Truffles and much more, paired with beverages fit for the theme of each respective space.
While most of the themes centered around florals, many ideas can be captured as inspiration for special occasion planning, with a focus on weddings, milestone birthdays, anniversaries and even the upcoming winter solstice. Fashion and beauty also were at the forefront with dresses, suits and jewelry on display from the likes of Birks and Canadian darling Lucian Matis. Fête Chinoise takes celebration to the highest level of artistry.
While the decadence of the night surely was to be savoured, the heart of the cause actually is something noble. 100% of ticket sales are distributed among the MON SHEONG FOUNDATION, a Chinese-Canadian charity supporting community wellness and cultural heritage, and also ORBIS CANADA, enabling eye surgeries for children who desperately need the support.
