Toronto has the pleasure of hosting a run of Academy Award-winning Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin‘s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at Ed Mirvish Theatre. The history-making, Tony-winning play completes a limited run this week before returning back again courtesy of Mirvish Productions, in May 2024.
Starring in this adaptation of Harper Lee‘s iconic novel is Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated Actor Richard Thomas (Ozark, IT), taking on the role of Atticus Finch, who unlike in the Novel, is the protagonist here. Set in Alabama during the 1930s, Finch defends Tom Robinson (Yaegel T. Welch), a black man falsely accused of rape. Mary Badham, who played Finch’s daughter Scout in the 1962 film, en route to an Oscar nomination, stars as Mrs. Henry Dubose this time around.
Have been a fan of Thomas for many years. Getting to see him here finally is a joy, and while tickets sold out quickly for this string of performances, I look forward to seeing this when it’s back in the Spring! Thomas was so kind, stopping for a snap.
