American sandwich giant JERSEY MIKE’S continue their expansion into Canada, adding to their expansive family of 3,500 restaurants in operation currently. Today, they launched what is their fifth ever Canadian location at Toronto’s bustling Union Station, drawing long, but briskly-served queues with a fully staffed kitchen counter. Redberry Restaurants‘ plan is to open 300 Jersey Mike’s locations across Canada over the next decade.
From opening day through Sunday, January 26, 2025, some customers will be able to score a free regular-sized sub with a minimum $3 donation to Make-a-Wish Canada. In order to qualify, customers need a qualifying coupon. The first 500 customers today, received a very Canadian keepsake – a Jersey Mike’s hockey puck! Additional charitable initiatives are on the way March 2025.
The restaurant offers an extensive selection of both hot and cold sandwiches, with their topseller being The Original Italian. Sandwiches are available in three sizes for all appetites: mini, regular and giant. The dressing combination “Mike’s Way” which consists of lettuce, tomato, onion, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and spices, are a big hit among faithful patrons.
Created originally by Michael Ingravallo in the ’50s and propelled to a huge success story in the ’70s after current CEO Peter Cancro purchased the Point Pleasant, New Jersey location (where he worked) at the young age of 17 with the help of a loan from his football coach. The rest is literally history. His story.
