To date, this third Film in the massively-successful Franchise has grossed $258 million for Lionsgate/eOne Films. Could it be that Moviegoers are preoccupied with Holiday Parties and shopping right now?
In second for a second week in-a-row is THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR, earning $10.6 million from 3,775 theatres for 20th Century Fox. It closes-in on the $50 million mark domestically.
HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 rises to third spot in its second week out for Warner Bros., earning $8.6 million this weekend from 3,400 theatres.
BIG HERO 6 slips to fourth in its fifth week out with $7.6 million, bringing its total to $177 million in its domestic run thus far.
THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING continues to go strong in limited release, placing seventh with $2.6 million for Focus Features/eOne Films, from just 826 theatres.
GONE GIRL spends a stellar tenth week in the Top Ten with $1.4 million, good enough for eighth spot for 20th Century Fox.
BIRDMAN rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.1 million for Fox Searchlight from 738 theatres, getting close to the $20 million mark in its theatrical release.
