Cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) reunite for a tour through Poland to honour their recently deceased beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when the pair’s old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.
Writer-Director and star Eisenberg returns to Sundance, after premiering his feature debut When You Finish Saving the World in 2022, to have the world premiere of his outstanding second feature. It’s an intimate portrait of family told between these two use-to-be-cousins, while additionally displaying love and grief for the history of Jews in Poland.
This moving story is told beautifully through David and Benji. Eisenberg is strong as the repressed David. Displaying the buried grief and anxiety his character has forced within him. Culkin steals the show as the charismatic and honest to-a-fault Benji. The recent Emmy-Winner anchors his emotional Benji making him the beating heart of the film.
Searchlight Pictures acquired A Real Pain at Sundance ’24. It currently doesn’t have a release date.

Today, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios CEO and President Chris McCarthy announced that Jon Stewart will return to executive produce The Daily Show and host every Monday night starting February 12th – the day after the Super Bowl on CBS – through the 2024 Election Cycle. The Daily Show airs the next day on Paramount+ in Canada.
During his 16-year tenure as host, Stewart turned The Daily Show into a cultural juggernaut. He demonstrated an unparalleled ability to connect with audiences from many walks of life through his acerbic wit, self-deprecating humor and passion for doing what’s right. He championed the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 to support 9/11 first responders, among other causes, always offering a sympathetic ear, calling out political hypocrisy and providing a refreshingly humorous and honest take. TDS with Jon Stewart was the go-to place where politicians would make their case and viewers would turn – not only to get their late-night laughs, but also to get their news and help them make sense of the world.
As a writer and EP, Stewart drove the show creatively. He launched the careers of some of late night’s biggest names, including Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Michael Che, and Samantha Bee, as well as other marquee talent such as Steve Carrell, Jessica Williams, Olivia Munn, and Josh Gad, to name just a few.
“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”
Stewart is set to host The Daily Show every Monday through the 2024 Election Cycle, with a rotating line-up of The Daily Show News Team on tap for the rest of the week.
He will also executive produce (Monday-Thursday) and be reunited with showrunner and executive producer Jen Flanz, helping to shape this next chapter. Stewart’s long-time manager, James “Baby Doll” Dixon, will also be brought on the show as an Executive Producer.
Considered one of America’s top social and comedic voices, Stewart is the recipient of the 2022 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and garnered a collective 56 Emmy Award nominations and won 24 times during his tenure as host and EP of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart where he redefined political satire in American culture. Their ten consecutive wins for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series represent the category’s longest streak in Emmy history. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart also received three prestigious Peabody Awards.

Writer-Director Titus Kaphar’s feature debut is a powerful look at breaking the cycle of generational trauma, the healing power of art, and an examination of what forgiveness means.
Established Artist Tarrell (André Holland) uses his paintings to find freedom from his past. A past that included trauma inflicted by his drug-addicted father La’Ron (John Earl Jelks) onto his mother Joyce (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor) and him. Now, 15 years have passed since Tarrell has seen his father when La’Ron unexpectedly shows up looking to reconcile.
Exhibiting Forgiveness is a stirring drama with profound lessons. Kaphar’s impressive first Feature, tells an intimate story of one family with complexity. He effortlessly tells the story of destructive parenting, trauma, and reconciliation all through an artist’s use of painting to work through his traumatic childhood. Cinema has shown what forgiveness looks like through the decades, but none have depicted it as authentically as Kaphar.
The Filmmaker has garnered an ensemble that displays a masterclass in acting. Golden Globe winner Andra Day, Ellis-Taylor, and Earl Jelks give masterful performances. They’re led by the formidable Holland in an emotive, haunting performance that will go down as one of his finest. Exhibiting Forgiveness is one of the best at this year’s fest.
Exhibiting Forgiveness is in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at this year’s Festival.

About AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang (Gordon Cormier), a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar. Alongside his newfound friends Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim). But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task. They’ll need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.
