Tested follows the unfolding story of elite female runners who have been told they can no longer race as women, because of their biology. As the Olympics approach, they face hard choices: take drugs to lower their natural testosterone levels, give up their sport entirely, or fight. To understand how we got here, we trace the surprising, 100-year history of sex testing. Produced by CBC and NPR’s Embedded, with Bucket of Eels. Hosted by Rose Eveleth.

Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award-winning Beetlejuice.
Keaton returns to his iconic role alongside Oscar nominee Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Little Women) as Lydia Deetz and two-time Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Corpse Bride) as Delia Deetz, with new cast members Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix films), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon) in his feature film debut, with Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, At Eternity’s Gate).

Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
Burton, a genre unto himself, directs from a screenplay by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Wednesday), story by Gough & Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO® Batman Movie), based on characters created by Michael McDowell & Larry Wilson. The film’s producers are Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tommy Harper and Burton, with Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Gough, Millar, Brad Pitt, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, Anthony Tittanegro, Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg executive producing.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, a world-leading international producer, distributor, and licensor of children’s animated and live action content, and the Clifford Ross Company, announced a series of new global licensing partnerships for the beloved children’s character, Babar. Australian retail company, Cotton On will debut their new Babar x Cotton On Body Sleep collection in ladies’ sleepwear and loungewear, set to launch on July 19, 2024. Additionally, Rauch Brands introduced their Babar holiday glass ornament collection in January. Canadian streetwear brand Peace Collective launched the P/C x Babar collection in stores and online earlier this month.
“For over 90 years, fans worldwide have been captivated by Babar’s unique style and iconic artwork,” said Carly Slack, Director of Global Licensing, Retail & Marketing at Nelvana. “We are excited to bring Babar’s timeless charm to our latest collaborations. These partnerships with Cotton On, Rauch Brands, and Peace Collective offer high-quality, stylish, and innovative products, ensuring there is something special for every Babar fan.”
The new global partnership with clothing brand, Cotton On, will place Babar at the front and center of women’s loungewear and sleepwear. The collection will be available online and in retail stores.
“The French character Babar has truly inspired the Cotton On Body x Babar collection, particularly with Paris at the front of everyone’s mind this season.” said Olivia Twitchett, Buying Manager at Cotton On Body. “Our 90’s T-shirt Nighties, with the iconic Babar graphics, will be the hero of this collection, with the cuteness of the character tapping into nostalgia for our customer. Nostalgia is a big part of our Body DNA; youthful, playful and fun. Talking to nostalgia and researching this theme is a form of escapism for our Gen Z customer, so we believe this collection will tap into childhood memories and will provide them with an alternative to technology and mindless scrolling”.
Renowned for their beautiful hand-crafted and exceptional quality holiday glass ornament designs, Rauch Brands launched special Babar themed glass ornaments. Featuring six festive designs, the collection will be available at department, specialty, and independent stores across North America and online at www.christopherradko.com and www.katandannie.com just in time for the 2024 holiday season.
Continuing their successful five-year licensing partnership with Nelvana, Peace Collective and Nelvana have taken it to new heights, with an exclusive P/C x Babar collection. This new collaboration which launched on July 5th is now available in-stores and online. The exclusive collection has Babar designs in collaboration with some of Peace Collective’s best known self-care themes.
Babar originated in the 1930s as a bedtime story told to Laurent de Brunhoff and his brother by their mother, Cecile, and first came to life through the art of Laurent’s father, Jean, a painter, who produced seven books about the character. When Jean passed away at the young age of 37, Laurent, who studied at the same art academy, built on his father’s work, creating many lively adventures for the elephant family. A remarkable success story with humble beginnings, today Babar continues to reign as the king of children’s literature. The lovable elephant has appeared in more than 75 books in 27 languages, as well as multiple television series, specials, and films.
The success of these partnerships underscore Babar’s enduring appeal and Nelvana and The Clifford Ross Company’s commitment to expanding the nostalgic property’s presence across diverse product categories and global markets.
The much-anticipated grand opening of The Berczy Tavern is set for July 18, 2024, at 69 Front Street East in the heart of Old Town Toronto. Brought to life by Chef Michael Angeloni and his partners Adam Teolis and Yannick Bigourdan, the new locale promises to be a standout destination for locals and visitors alike with its vibrant live music, new American Bistro cuisine, and historic charm.
“We are thrilled to establish The Berczy Tavern in such a historic and vibrant part of Toronto,” said Adam Teolis, co-owner of The Berczy Tavern. “Our goal is to create a space that feels both timeless and contemporary, where the community can come together to enjoy great food, live music, and a welcoming atmosphere.”
Located at the intersection of Front and Church Streets, The Berczy Tavern occupies a heritage building across from its namesake, Berczy Park. The restaurant has undergone significant renovations to preserve the building’s historic charm while introducing contemporary elements. Guests will be greeted by a 20-foot tall marble bar, brass detailing, and a grand piano – set to create an unforgettable atmosphere with live performances every evening.
Chef Michael Angeloni has a personal connection to the building, having frequented it during his culinary school days when it housed a Japanese restaurant. This deep-rooted affinity for the location, combined with a desire to create a unique, owner-operated establishment, is at the heart of The Berczy Tavern. Chef Michael is in the kitchen, and Adam is on the floor, ensuring a personal touch in every aspect.
“Toronto needed a destination where people could go for unique experiences. Food and beverage is one thing, but adding music to the mix elevates it to another level,” added Teolis, “The Berczy is a combination of everything we love—perfect dining room, ambiance, and music. We aim to create that dinner party feel with music, warm lighting, and a lively atmosphere where tables aren’t too spread out.” Guests can enjoy live performances by local talent on weekdays starting at 8:00 p.m. and on weekends (Friday and Saturday) beginning at 9:30 p.m., featuring a mix of classic and contemporary jazz, big band tunes, and some of the city’s best piano players.
The restaurant offers a New American bistro menu influenced by the culinary traditions of the South of France, North of Italy, and Spain. The menu features a variety of dishes that showcase the rich flavours and techniques from these regions, blending them seamlessly with contemporary North American cuisine. Highlights include snackable favourites like crab cakes and grilled oysters, as well as shareable plates like octopus and rack of lamb. The beverage program is equally diverse, boasting over 50 wine labels, a selection of local and foreign beers, classic and contemporary cocktails, and a dedicated whiskey nook.
“Old Town Toronto’s unique blend of history and modern vibrancy makes it the perfect home for The Berczy Tavern,” said Chef Michael Angeloni. “We’re excited to contribute to the neighbourhood’s rich culinary scene with a menu that reflects the diverse influences of my culinary journey. We want every diner to leave our restaurant feeling proud of living in Toronto, as the food, drinks, and atmosphere work in harmony to create an unforgettable experience.”
The Berczy Tavern caters to a wide range of dining preferences and occasions, offering a refined dining room at the back for romantic dinners or family celebrations, while the front area provides a more casual bar environment with live music. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Excitingly, there is plenty in the works as the team prepares to open for lunch and brunch in the near future.

After its intitial theatrical release, MY SPY would go on to find new life on Prime Video during the Pandemic, becoming the third-most streamed title of 2020 upon its release on the streaming service. Fans now get an eagerly-anticipated Sequel from Director Peter Segal (50 First Dates, Get Smart), MY SPY: THE ETERNAL CITY reuniting Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman in their roles as JJ and Sophie. This time around, Sophie‘s high school choir jets off to Italy in a performance for the Pope. Originally meant as a bonding experience between stepfather and stepdaughter, the duo find themselves at the entangled in a terrorist plot that could end the world!
Ken Jeong and Kristen Schaal also return, with new Cast additions Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg.
We got to join a chat modeated by Director Segal and stars Dave Bautista, Chloe Coleman and Ken Jeong.
Production on this Sequel to the 2020 hit took the Cast and Crew to Italy and South Africa. They commented on their travels. Most of them got to go on a Safari, except one!
Coleman: Yes! We all went on a Safari! (pointing to her and Jeong)
Bautista: I didn’t get to go on a Safari. Remember, I had only the one weekend off and it rained.
Jeong: We barely had any time off. It was Easter weekend I think, and everybody went of to the Serenghetti.
Segal mentions that there is a lot of action in the Movie and asks the Cast about their training for it.
Bautista: I’ve been working my whole life! I didn’t have to train at all!
Jeong: Watching Dave do this and working with the Stunt Coordinators, it was amazing to watch because as a fan of Dave from the WWE, him just seguing seamlessly into ‘I’ll take over!’, or ‘I can do this part!’, it’s incredible to watch. Flula did an amazing job as well! He’s so under-rated, so happy for him.
Segal: I remember one day Dave when you were approaching Flula in a Pope mobile. He was in the Pope Mobile and you were on a motorcycle and you were kinda surprised why there wasn’t a stunt driver because it was Flula actually driving! He blasted out of what was supposed to be the Vatican garage without even an inch on each side of the side-view mirrors to get out of there, one and done.
Segal asks the Cast what it was like working with new additions to the Cast including Anna Faris, Flula Borg and Craig Robinson.
Bautista: Super talented, versatile and improv – they all brought something extra to table. They just chipped in a bit of their own personality and it really showed and came across. I’ve known Anna for years, so super comfortable with her, but never really met Flula or Craig.
Jeong: Fit in like a glove!
Segal: What did you work on with Anna?
Bautista: I knew Anna from working on Guardians of the Galaxy with Pratt.
Segal: I forgot about THAT one! I saw Anna Faris on a talk show yesterday. She said the Cast was close that it was intimatiding for her. How do you become new member of a family?
Bautista: Everyone feels that way coming in new – she fit right in.
One of the themes of the Film is Sophie‘s character beginning to come of age. Chloe Coleman comments on this and her character’s first kiss at the end of the Movie.
Segal: Chloe, when I originally pitched this to you, you weren’t all that into it because of the whole boy thing. It took a couple years to get this movie going.
Coleman: I think inititally Sophie was a little more boy crazy than in the Movie. I remember reading one of the drafts and she’s kissing a dummy, asking JJ ‘How do I go in for my first kiss?’. And if I had to do this, I would’ve freaked out! I think we got the perfect balance though. When you become teenager, you do think it’s gross. Sophie‘s reserved and if it’s something special and new, something she doesn’t understand, that’s what she’s scared of. She doesn’t know how to be a teenager and a high schooler, she had no friends in the first movie and now she does. She’s expanding her life in a new way.
Segal: Was that actually your first kiss? Because I would’ve felt bad with all the pressure!
Coleman: That was so mean, because we were checking the camera, we get more takes of it and then you said, ‘Now we’re going to start filming’ and you were filming the ENTIRE time! So you got double the amount of takes you actually shot!
Segal: Because I felt bad because I thought you and Taeho K were going to be very nervous, so I said we were just practicing!
Coleman: I knew it!.
Segal asks the Cast what ideas they have for a third film in the Franchise.
Bautista: Sophie’s gotta be in college
Coleman: Where does she go to college?
Bautista: This all depends on when Amazon pulls the trigger
Segal: A wedding for Mr. Kim?
Jeong: That would be incredible, not to spoil anything!
MY SPY: THE ETERNAL CITY arrives July 18, 2024 on Prime Video Canada.
