THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS stretches its success a second week with $40 million from 4,125 theatres for Disney. This brings its tally to $198 million domestically.
Second up is a debuting THE BAD GUYS 2 with $22.2 million from 3,852 theatres for Universal Pictures. It almost matches its 2022 predecessor which had a $23 million opening. This earns 84% on the Tomatometer.
THE NAKED GUN debuts in third with $17 million from 3,344 theatres for Paramount Pictures. This gets a stellar 90% on the Tomatometer! Top opening for the Franchise still belongs to 1991’s THE SMELL OF FEAR, a $22 million debut.
SUPERMAN is in fourth with $13.9 million, a total $315 million grossed over four weekends for Warner Bros.
JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH lands in fifth with $8.7 million for Universal Pictures, a five week of $317 million.
A huge opening for THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS this weekend with a $125 million debut from 4,125 theatres for Marvel/Disney. Not only this, it gets stellar reviews at 88% on the Tomatometer. This easily bests its previous franchise record of a $58 million opening back in 2007 with RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. It’s clobbering time, indeed!
Second goes to SUPERMAN with $24.5 million in its third weekend out, taking it to $289 million for Warner Bros. domestically.
Up for third is JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH with $13 million in its fourth weekend out for Universal Pictures. To date it has grossed $301 million.
Fourth is F1 with $6.3 million for Sony Pictures, a two week run of $165 million.
Rounding things out is SMURFS with $5.6 million, a two week tally of $23 million for Paramount Pictures.
SUPERMAN continues to fly high with a second weekend of $55 million from 4,275 theatres at the Box Office. This takes it already to $232.7 million in North America for Warner Bros.
JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH takes second with $21 million, bringing it ro $271.2 million for Universal Pictures in its third weekend.
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER debuts in third with $15 million from 3,206 theatres for Sony Pictures, coming it with 38% on the Tomatometer. This actually performs similarly to the Film’s predecessors which opened in the late ’90s to similar numbers.
Fourth is SMURFS, opeming with $12 million from 3,504 theatres. It gets 21% on the Tomatometer for Paramount Pictures. Best franchise opening goes to 2011’s THE SMURFS with $35 million.
F1 rounds it out with $6.4 million for Warner Bros., a domestic run of $153.4 million.
SUPERMAN is pure kryptonite in its debut, opening with a smashing $120 million from 4,135 theatres for Warner Bros. Best opening for the SUPERMAN franchise still goes to 2016’s BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, with $166 million. Critics enjoyed James Gunn‘s fun take, giving it 82% on the Tomatometer.
Second up is JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH with $37 million in its second frame for Universal Pictures, a total run of $229.1 million domestically so far.
Third is F1 with $10.7 million, taking it to $133.8 million for Warner Bros. in its third weekend.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON secures fourth spot with $5.7 million, a tally of $237 million over five weekends for Universal Pictures.
ELIO rounds it out with $3.1 million, taking it to $62 million in its fourth weekend for Disney/Pixar.
