After ruining his solo career and taking an extended break from music, the infamous Ronan Garrett returns to his hometown without much of a plan besides making amends with the people he abandoned almost a decade ago. Forgotten by some, but still regarded as a rockstar by others, Ronan takes a humble job from a friend at the local music shop and sets about fixing his past mistakes, determined to prove himself a changed man. As the healing process begins, Ronan feels the call to play again – with a new approach.

#FIRSTLOOK: JOEL STEWART’S “SOUL’S ROAD” BEGINS PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Award-winning country music artist Dallas Smith stars in director Joel Stewart’s first dramatic feature SOUL’S ROAD, which has begun principal photography in Edmonton, Alberta. Also starring in the project are Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Son of a Critch), Charlie Gillespie (SUZE, Julie and the Phantoms), Celeste Desjardins (CAPE HOLLY CHRISTMAS, Taken), Josh Collins (The Hurt Unit, The 100) and Camille Stopps (Guilt Free Zone, Running with Violet).

SOUL’S ROAD is a feature film that tells the story of Ronan Garrett (Smith), a disgraced rock star who returns to the hometown and people he had forsaken a decade earlier. Ronan returns with little more than a suitcase, a well-worn knit cap, and a heart full of regret.

“This movie just feels right,” said Stewart. “Having spent my career capturing musicians at work, I have always found great joy in those thrilling moments where music and story collide. This is one of those times. I’m excited to watch our spectacular cast as they bring Johnny’s story to life.”

Written and produced by Dept.9 Studio’s John K. MacDonald, the film will wrap production on October 25. Don Depoe and Michael Feehan are also producers on this project. SOUL’S ROAD is a fully financed Canadian Production.
