#OSCARS: “ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER” TAKES BEST PICTURE AT 2026 OSCARS

Awards Season has concluded and ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER reigned supreme being named Best Picture at this year’s 98th Academy Awards. In addition to Best Picture, the Film also saw Writer/Director Paul Thomas Anderson take Director and Adapted Screenplay, along with Sean Penn taking Supporting Actor, Andy Jurgensen winning for Editing, and Cassandra Kulukundis winning the inaugural Oscar for Casting.

SINNERS also was a big part of the conversation tonight, winning four Oscars including Michael B. Jordan for Best Actor in a contentious battle with Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Writer/Director Ryan Coogler winning for Original Screenplay, Ludwig Goransson winning for Original Score, and Autumn Durald Arkapaw making history as the first female Director of Photography to win for Cinematography.

Canada would have a strong showing, with Toronto Filmmaker Maggie Kang’s KPOP DEMON HUNTERS winning Best Animated Feature and Original Song. Guillermo del Toro‘s FRANKENSTEIN, shot in Toronto, would see Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau winning for Production Design, while Jordan Samuel and Cliona Furey won for Make-Up and Hair. THE GIRL WHO CRIED PEARLS won Animated Short for Montreal duo Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski.

The event was hosted by Conan O’Brien in his debut at the prestigious night, winning the audience with his quick wit and occasional veering to political commentary.

#GOLDENGLOBES: “ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER” AND “ADOLESCENCE” DOMINATE 2026 GOLDEN GLOBES

The 83rd Golden.Globe Awards took place last night in Beverly Hills, California and leading the way were Paul Thomas Anderson’s ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER in the Film categories, and ADOLESCENCE in the TV categories. Each took home four trophies, including Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, and Limited Television Series, respectively.

Funnywoman Nikki Glaser hosted the evening again this year, drawing big laughs with her unfiltered yet thoughtfully-crafted humour. Canadians shone bright with Seth Rogen winning for Actor in a Television Series Comedy with The Studio, and Writer/Director Maggie Kang winning Animated Feature with global smash KPop Demon Hunters. Meanwhile the stars of Canadian production Heated Rivalry, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, continue to be Hollywood’s new “It Boys”, being the center of attention this past weekend on the party circuit. The pair presented to Adolescence‘s Erin Doherty on the broadcast.
