Earlier this summer, rising funk-pop artist Diamond Cafe captivated over 60,000 attendees at Quebec City’s famed Festival D’ete, where he performed his unreleased single “Lover Boy” while warming up the main stage for Carly Rae Jepsen and The Jonas Brothers. The response from the crowd was electrifying, with Range Magazine stating, “… it was opener Diamond Cafe, a funk-pop newcomer originally hailing from Victoria, BC, who ended up being one of the most surprising revelations of the weekend. He’s got a couple albums under his belt but the last two singles that he’s released via Warner Music Canada have elevated his status. With a 24-carat voice and on-stage swagger to match, it’s only a matter of time before Diamond Cafe is shining bright enough for the rest of the world to take notice.”
“Lover Boy” made its online debut last week on the coveted live performance session channel On The Radar – check it out here. The highly anticipated track is now officially available for streaming here, accompanied by the official music video here.
Diamond says, “’Lover Boy’ is a warning to those F-boys out there! I had to look out for the ladies on this one. I shot the video in LA with Josh Flores the day after I performed to 60K people at Festival D’ete, and I still had that lingering electricity in me. I took that energy from the stage and brought it to the set. We shot ‘Sweet Cherry’ and ‘Lover Boy’ on the same day. Shout out to my brother, Chuck Inglish, who came to hang out as well.”
Tomorrow, Diamond will make his debut in Paris, performing at New Morning. Known for his intoxicating live performances, he is one of a kind on stage. Diamond has a string of live dates across Canada and the US in the new year including stops in New York, Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver and more.
2024 has been a monumental year for Diamond, from being on the road alongside TALK across Canada, several dates opening for Teddy Swims, to joining the Festival D’ete line-up and releasing his summer single, “Sweet Cherry.” Diamond is quickly emerging as a must-watch artist, garnering support from notable figures such as Denzel Curry, Isaiah Falls, Freddie Gibbs, Anderson .Paak, SG Lewis, PNAU, POMO, and Free Nationals, among others.
