Paramount Pictures Canada and Mr. Will want to take Readers in Toronto and Montreal first to see THE GAMBLER starring Mark Wahlberg! Already drumming-up some buzz as we enter Awards Season, many are calling this perhaps his best performance yet. The Screening in Toronto takes place Wednesday, December 17, 2014 and Monday, December 22, 2014 in Montreal.
Official Synopsis:
English professor Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) is a high stakes gambler who routinely loses hundreds of thousands of dollars at blackjack and roulette tables. A risk taker, he’s already in debt for $240,000 when he borrows $50,000 from a brutal gangster named Neville (Michael Kenneth Williams), putting up his own life as collateral.
Bennett blows the $300,000 his mother (Jessica Lange) gives him to bail him out during a single trip to a Palm Springs Casino and immerses himself in an illicit, underground world while garnering the attention of loan shark Frank (John Goodman). It isn’t until Bennett develops a relationship with student Amy Phillips (Brie Larson) and she’s threatened, that he finds himself taking the ultimate risk to get a second chance.

Finally! A Title we’re extremely excited about to film in our City this Fall. Acclaimed Writer/Actor/Director Thomas McCarthy and the Cast of Spotlight currently are in Boston beginning filming for the Drama based on a True Story. The Film centers on the Boston Globe‘s investigation, which began in 2001 uncovering an abuse scandal within the Boston Archdiocese involving several victims of sexual abuse at the hands of ordained Priests. Suicides resulted often among victims as a result of the shame they had experienced.
The Film stars Rachel McAdams (seen in above new Still), Stanley Tucci, Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo, James Slattery, Billy Crudup, Brian d’Arcy James and Michael Keaton, the latter on the verge of a major career rebirth with all the acclaim BIRDMAN is receiving.
Filming takes place in Boston for the next week before heading to Toronto through early November. eOne Films will be handling distribution in Canada. We are terribly excited!
In other news, the Thriller Room starring Up-and-Comer Brie Larson is set to film in Toronto early October through mid-December. The Film its told from the perspective of a five-year-old Boy who is held captive in a room with is Mother, played by Larson. Lenny Abrahamson directs the Project.

“I was just reading e-mails…”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt tries his hand (pardon the pun) at Acting/Writing and Directing in Don Jon, a Porn Addict from New Jersey who tries finding happiness with a Girl who potentially could be “the one”. Although it wasn’t formally announced at last week’s list of Films to premiere at TIFF ’13, this Comedy was later confirmed by Canadian Distributor Mongrel Media to screen at this year’s Festival.
Don Jon features a superb Cast including Julianne Moore, Scarlett Johansson, Tony Danza and I think we even see a Cameo from Anne Hathaway in there! It is said Gordon-Levitt wrote the part of his Girlfriend specifically for Johansson.
