SYNOPSIS

BLADES OF THE GUARDIANS follows Dao Ma, the “second most wanted fugitive,” who is entrusted by his benefactor, the chief of Mo family clan, to take on a mysterious escort mission-escorting the “most wanted fugitive,” to Chang’an.

ABOUT DIRECTOR YUEN WOO PING

Yuen Woo-ping (袁和平) is one of the most influential figures in Hong Kong action cinema and a key architect of modern screen combat. He is the son of martial arts film actor and action director Yuen Siu-tien, and began training in martial arts at an early age before entering the film industry as a stunt performer. Yuen became an action choreographer in his mid-twenties and made his directorial debut in 1978. Over the decades, his work has played a central role in shaping the visual and physical language of action cinema across both Eastern and Western filmmaking traditions. His international recognition grew through his action choreography on THE MATRIX trilogy, followed by landmark works including CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, KILL BILL, and THE GRANDMASTER. He has received multiple Hong Kong Film Award honors for Best Action Choreography, including for CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, which went on to win four Academy Awards as a film. Yuen Woo-ping’s filmography also includes influential martial arts classics such as DRUNKEN MASTER and FIST OF LEGEND, as well as internationally recognized productions including KUNG FU HUSTLE, FEARLESS, and MASTER Z: IP MAN LEGACY.
