#FIRSTLOOK: JUST FOR LAUGHS ANNOUNCE “ONE NIGHT OUT WITH ALAN CUMMING” RELEASE

Just for Laughs today announced that One Night Out with Alan Cumming (previously announced as JFLGBTQ+ Gala Hosted by Alan Cumming) will release on Crave and CTV Comedy Channel in Canada. The special was filmed live in front of an audience on Saturday, July 26, 2025 during the Just for Laughs Montréal Festival. Release date to be announced.

Hosted by Alan Cumming, along with a stacked lineup of top comedic talent from around the world, the Gala features a curated mix of 2SLGBTQI+ stars and breakout voices from across the comedy spectrum. Taped live at Espace St-Denis, the show captures the electric energy, sharp writing, and international flair that have made JFL a premier comedy destination for fans and industry alike. Guests include Mae Martin, Sabrina Jalees, Jay Jurden, Tranna Wintour, Joe Dombrowski, Irene Tu, Dan Duvall and Sami Landri. Trevor Boris (Canada’s Drag Race) is the showrunner and an executive producer of One Night Out with Alan Cumming.

Alan Cumming stars in DRIVE BACK HOME which opens December 6, 2024 via Photon Films after a successful award-winning festival run.

SYNOPSIS
In the winter of 1970, a cantankerous, small town plumber from rural New Brunswick, must drive his beat-up work truck 1000 miles to Toronto to get his estranged, gay brother out of jail after being arrested for having sex in a public park. The two men are then forced to drive back home together at the behest of their hard-nosed mother before they kill each other. Inspired by a true story.

#FIRSTLOOK: NEW TRAILER FOR “SCHMIGADOON!”

Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key star in upcoming Musical Comedy Series, SCHMIGADOON! Here’s a first look.

Synopsis:

A parody of iconic Golden Age musicals, “Schmigadoon!” stars Strong and Key as a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship who discover a magical town living in a 1940s musical. They then learn that they can’t leave until they find “true love.” The six-episode season also stars Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Fred Armisen, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada. Martin Short guest stars.

#SPOTTED: ALAN CUMMING IN TORONTO FOR “YOU GOTTA GET BIGGER DREAMS”

Here he comes again! Scottish-American star of stage, screen and best-selling Author Alan Cumming returns to Toronto to promote his latest literary endeavour, You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams. After doing some press earlier today for Book, the fan favourite star of The Good Wife met Fans at Indigo Manulife Centre. The Book recalls many of his life adventures in 45 photo essays from bonding with Elizabeth Taylor to his travels in Syria. Cumming says, “They aren’t the scary people, they are escaping from the ‘scary people'”, recounting some of human rights atrocities he saw and heard of from his friends there.

The famous Vegan also recalls a time where he filmed in Italy Julie Taymor‘s TITUS with Jessica Lange, both relieved for the flight to take-off after an ordeal where his flight out of Rome wasn’t being paid for by the production. After throwing apologetically what he calls a “diva fit”, threatening not to show up to set, he finally got his way. We won’t name who but one castmate even got away with smuggling a bird in to America!

Despite there being a bit of worry making his 7:30 PM deadline to leave (maybe to catch Adele??), he made his way in good time through the queue of Fans!
