#REVIEW: “THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY”
Review by Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
14 years ago a movie by the name of The Best Man helped illuminate some of the brightest Stars in Showbiz. Penned by Malcom D. Lee, and directed by the same, that introductory Film revolved around one Man’s Wedding (Morris Chestnut), and his Best Man’s (Taye Diggs) betrayal. Hearts were broken and eventually mended… oh the beauty of the Rom-Com!
Cue to the present moment: the Stars are back, so is the Writer/Director, and the humor and ...

#REVIEW: “THOR: THE DARK WORLD”
Review by Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
In 1962, Stan Lee was asked to add to the Icons he’d already created. There was a Family affected by the Extra-Terrestrial, a Scientist exposed to the ills of his experiments, and even a boy bit by a mutant spider. Yet, despite all these successes the Publishers wanted more. Lee obliged them. He transcended the radioactive and entered into the ethereal, he resurrected a god.
Thor is familiar to us all now, with his winged helmet and ...

#REVIEW: “DALLAS BUYERS CLUB”
2013 certainly will be a year remembered for its outstanding Male Performances and Dallas Buyer's Club, the sixth Film from Canadian Director Jean-Marc Vallée, contains two of them. The Film centers around wild and reckless Ron ...

#REVIEW: “THE DISAPPEARED”
The Disappeared is a Story which needed to be told. Often when we are so immersed in Americana and its inundation on the Canadian consciousness, we often overlook the talent within. After making its way through the Canadian Film Festival Circuit, it now is unveiled for the Public to enjoy.
Directed and written by Shandi Mitchell, the Drama centers on six Men whom are stranded on on the north Atlantic Ocean after their Fishing Boat sinks, leaving them lost and stranded. Without much food or ...

#REVIEW: “ROMEO AND JULIET”
We all know about Romeo and Juliet, the Classic Story pretty much becoming a compulsory study in High School English Classes across the Country. Director Carlo Carlei and Screenwriter Julian Fellowes join forces, uniting to bring the Story to a newer generation defined by Hannah Montana, Teen Vogue and Gossip Girl. This is not to imply though that this timeless Tale of Romance, Honour and Tragedy is in any way reduced in any form. Carlei manages to remain faithful to William Shakespeare, ...

#REVIEW: “MACHETE KILLS”
Either you want to give Machete a hug or you want to kill Machete. Fortunately for us, we're more the former. Although some might deem it unnecessary, Director/Writer Robert Rodrgiuez has managed to squeeze-out another Story about our favourite knife-wielding Mexican Superhero in Machete Kills.
In this Sequel to the well-received 2010 Film, we see Machete (Danny Trejo) wanted both dead and alive as he is enlisted by the President of the United States (Charlie Sheen) to take down a ...

#REVIEW: “12 YEARS A SLAVE”
Every once in a while a Film comes along which takes you so deep into dark and uncomfortable emotional territory that you literally walk away from it traumatized and shaken. Such is the case with the ever-powerful 12 Years a Slave, Victor of the People's Choice Award at TIFF '13.
After seeing this Drama based on the Autobiography by Samuel Northrup, one - I am convinced that Director Steve McQueen (Hunger, Shame) is incapable of making anything but a stellar Film and tw0 - I am ...

#REVIEW: “GRAVITY”
Review by: Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
Warner Bros.' Oscar Campaign continues this week with their release of Gravity. Alfonso Cuaron’s latest Passion Project is as ambitious visually as it is philosophically. Previously Cuaron worked on such Notables as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men. Like the latter Gravity is not only directed by him, but written by him as well. But much of that writing goes unsaid, as the dialogue is minimal and the Story-heavy.
Such ...

#REVIEW: “GIRL MOST LIKELY”
Although it took a good while to make it to us after its Premeire at TIFF '12, Girl Most Likely, known formerly as Imogene, finally sees a release. To manage our expectations however, it decidedly will get a modest limited release.
Although it certainly isn't on the level of the brilliant Bridesmaids in terms of wit, Kristen Wiig's many devout Fans will delight in seeing the Funnywoman carry much of the weight here as a once-promising New York Playwright paying her bills with a ...
