#REVIEW: “HER”
Review by Sarah Gopaul for Mr. Will Wong
Socially-accepted notions of Romance have changed so that meeting online is as common as meeting at a bar, if not more so now. Finding a Partner is no longer geographically limited to being in the same location and people don't grimace when you say an algorithm determined your compatibility. But these relationships are still connections between two Humans, even if they began digitally. In Her, one-half of the couple exists purely in ...

#REVIEW: “SAVING MR. BANKS”
Making a Film about the Story behind one of the most beloved Films of all time, Mary Poppins, certainly is a daunting task. Director John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) however, manages beautifully to recount the tale of how iconic Animation Mogul Walt Disney fought to win-over an unwaveringly wary Author P.L. Travers, adapting to the Big Screen her treasured Story. We learn in Saving Mr. Banks the deeply-personal sentiments behind Travers' inability to just let-go and share her Story with the ...

#REVIEW: “THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG”
Review by: Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
J.R.R. Tolkien adored the myths of days gone by. This sublime affection led him to create a mythology all his own. The setting: Middle Earth, a diverse landscape filled with creatures of all kinds. The Players: Hobbits mostly, a curious race of wise-cracking gluttons capable of the most extraordinary things. From a hole in the ground one Hobbit in particular proved this point in excess. Bilbo Baggins began his unexpected and cinematic journey a ...

#REVIEW: “OUT OF THE FURNACE”
After wowing Audiences in 2009 with Oscar-winning Crazy Heart, Writer/Director Scott Cooper looks to build upon his already spotless Resume with this his sophomore effort, Out of the Furnace. A special Film this is indeed, the type that grabs you early and never surrendering its hold, with a prevailing sense of uncertainty throughout. We are never quite sure where Cooper is taking us, but we are certain that we want don't want to step-off.
The Thriller-Drama centers on Russell Baze ...

#REVIEW: “HOMEFRONT”
Explosions, killer action sequences and lots of tough talk are just about what you'd expect of the Sylvester Stallone brand. In fact, he would be terribly amiss if he didn't deliver just this. The Action Legend brings to the big screen an Adaptation of the Novel of the same name by Chuck Logan, not only taking on the role of Producer but also Screenwriter here. Much reliant on a no-nonsense performance from buttkicking-Brit Jason Statham, who channels his inner Stallone ...

#REVIEW: “BLACK NATIVITY”
Although I'm certain the Stage Play on which it is based is much more powerful an experience, Actress/Writer/Director Kasi Lemons brings Langston Hughes' Off-Broadway Musical Black Nativity to the Big Screen. The Musical-Drama retells the Nativity Story with an entirely Black Cast, complete with a selection of modernized, soulful renditions of Holiday Carols and Gospel Numbers.
After being evicted from their Baltimore Apartment, Naima (Jennifer Hudson) sends her Son Langston (Jacob ...

#REVIEW: “OLDBOY”
After shocking and scintillating Fans in 2003 with the Adaptation of the Japanese Manga, South-Korean Visionary Park Chan-Wook's Oldboy gets an American Adaptation by another Maverick in his own right, Spike Lee. This certainly isn't a Film for the lighthearted. In fact, the extremities it explores in the name of vengeance seem rather limitless.
Joe Doucett is forced into solitary confinement for 20 years for the murder of his Wife. The only problem is this - he actually isn't guilty of it. ...

Easily this Fall's most awaited Movie Event, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has Director Francis Lawrence (Water for Elephants, I Am Legend) taking the reins this time around from Gary Ross, committing also to the remaining instalments of the Franchise. This latest Chapter certainly doesn't disappoint. If anything it builds further upon its 2012 Box Office record-breaking Predecessor with an array of fascinating new Characters. We witness the emotional torment of our favourite Heroine ...

#REVIEW: “DELIVERY MAN”
Review by Jonathan Godfrey for Mr. Will Wong
French-Canadians have stolen the spotlight this season. Hot on the heels of a Québécois-crafted Thriller is a truly creative Comedy from the same soil. Delivery Man is the adaptation of TIFF '11 Favourite, Starbuck. (Both being written and directed by Ken Scott, who won an array of Awards for the Original). The update sees Vince Vaughn as David Wozniak, a Meat Delivery Man with a past penchant for Sperm Bank donations.
Said donations lead to over ...
