Last night at Meridian Hall, was the first of two performances by the FILMharmonique Orchestra, Canada’s premier orchestra dedicated to film concerts, in partnership with Disney Concerts, to bring audiences a live performance for the 30th anniversary of Toy Story.
Toy Story is a timeless classic – and there is no denying that – the Soundtrack and Score to the Movie are two of the most iconic and memorable core memories of my childhood. Being able to see the Movie, that personally shaped me and taught me the love of Film I have today, together with live orchestration, truly was a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime experience.
While last night was a mix of fans of Toy Story – new and old – families, and first-time viewers, the audience was completely captivated by the experience entirely. While we were seated half-way through the Orchestra, there was never a moment the room felt anything but connected to the experience – truly making the argument that Toy Story is suitable for everyone! The FILMharmonique Orchestra performed the Score to perfection, transporting audiences to a moment of magic.
While the Movie itself is incredibly short, running at 81 minutes, the live performances total 105 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission. While it can be argued that there isn’t a natural stopping point in *most* movies, and Toy Story specifically, the intermission starts when Andy and his Mom return home from Pizza Planet – which acyually is the perfect time for an intermission. Toy Story Live celebrating the Film’s 30th anniversary plays again today, November 22nd 2pm at Meridian Hall. Do not miss this incredible chance to see the film that launched the giant that is Pixar, Toy Story.
Attendees also get an amazing Photo Op to commemorate the experience:
