Critically acclaimed three part limited series The Christine Jessop Story, is now streaming on Netflix Canada where it has landed in the Top Five. Executive produced by filmmaker and advocate Folklaur Chevrier, Wild Sheep Content and Alibi Entertainment, the series was originally developed with Crave, showcasing a more than decade-long investigation into a case that forever changed Canada’s justice system.
At its heart, the series is a deeply human story: a tragic crime that led to a family’s fight for justice, a wrongful conviction and the eventual identification of the true killer. More than a true-crime story, the limited series exposes systemic failure while highlighting resilience and the urgent need for justice reform and child protection. Instrumental in bringing the series from concept to screen, is Chevrier herself. Shifting focus from her own career as an actor and model, she founded Folklaur Films to pursue stories that uncover truths often overlooked and hold those in power accountable. For Chevrier, The Christine Jessop Story is a reflection of that.
“Christine Jessop’s story has lived with me for long over a decade,” says Executive Producer Chevrier. “This wasn’t just a project for me, it was a responsibility. Christine’s life mattered. Her family mattered. Janet and Kenneth Jessop’s fight mattered. And the failures that allowed this to happen still matter today. This series is about truth, accountability, and making sure we never look away when the system gets it wrong. Now available on Netflix, the series allows Christine’s story to reach a broader audience”
“The addition of The Christine Jessop Story to Netflix is a decades-long labour of love and determination to tell my sister’s story”, says Christine’s brother Ken Jessop. “Folklaur never gave up on telling the truth behind the headlines and the truth about who Chrisitne was before she became “The Victim”.
Beyond her role as Executive Producer, Chevrier is an advocate for child protection, supporting the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and delivering talks on bullying, resilience, and self-acceptance to youth across Canada.
With its Netflix Canada launch, The Christine Jessop Story spotlights Chevrier as a bold new voice in documentary storytelling, one using truth, empathy, and persistence to spark national conversation and lasting change.
The Christine Jessop Story is available to stream on Netflix Canada and Crave now.
