Hollywood Suite is putting three exclusive premieres under the tree this December: the Canadian debut of a docuseries celebrating a Hollywood icon in Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar (2024), the story of a wrestling legend in Lunatic: The Luna Vachon Story (2024), and new episodes of the Hollywood Suite original series A Year in Film (2025).
Executive produced by Kim Kardashian, Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar is a deep dive into Taylor’s craft as an actor who mesmerized audiences while changing the relationship between cinemagoers and stars. It goes on to highlight her work as a businesswoman, activist and advocate. Produced by Passion Pictures and distributed internationally by Fremantle, the documentary features stars like Sharon Stone, Joan Collins, and Paris Jackson. The first part of the three-part series premieres on demand and on the Hollywood Suite 2010s+ channel on December 26 at 9 PM ET.
“This December, we’re reflecting on people and films that took the world by storm, from Elizabeth Taylor and Luna Vachon, to the films that shaped history in A Year In Film,” said Sharon Stevens, Vice-President of Programming for Hollywood Suite. “Paired with beloved festive favourite films, these documentaries highlighting celebrated pop culture personalities will add more sparkle to the season.”
Lunatic: The Luna Vachon Story follows the story of Canadian WWF icon Luna Vachon. Raised by a family of wrestling legends, wrestling was her first love. Reaching the peak of her fame in the 90s, Luna’s biggest hurdle was challenging the mainstream wrestling industry and its view on women. She aimed to be the biggest, baddest wrestling villain that ever lived. This Canadian film is directed by Vancouver-born Kate Kroll and premieres on demand on December 1, and on December 16 at 9 PM ET on the Hollywood Suite 2010s+ channel.
Arriving just in the St. Nick of time are brand new episodes of the Hollywood Suite original series A Year in Film. This season will go back further than the 1970s, time-travelling to 1939 with films like Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz. Years also featured this season are 1976, 1987, 1990 and 2004, with insightful commentary on movies like All The President’s Men, The Lost Boys, Goodfellas and The Notebook. All five episodes premiere on demand December 1.
