Before there was Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle, there was Beyoncé, Kelly, Latavia and LeToya!  And if you’re on the same page as me, you’d agree that Destiny’s Child was at its finest with its original lineup.  No, No, No, Bills Bills Bills, Say My Name, Jumpin’ Jumpin’ and Bug a Boo would place the Group on the map internationally in the late ’90s and early ’00s and although their rifts were quite public, the Music they made together more than speaks for itself.

Founding Destiny’s Child Member LeToya Luckett has been in Toronto for the past while filming the fourth season of BET‘s Single Ladies (yes, the irony!), the Series produced by Queen Latifah. Luckett on the Series plays Felicia Price, owner of an influencial Music Management Company.  In addition to this latest turn, she also starred in HBO‘s Treme and on her own has achieved success as a Solo Act, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 200 with her self-titled Disc, LeToya in 2006.

It was an amazing experience getting to meet Luckett who almost wasn’t recognizable in her short bob!  She nonetheless was amazingly gracious before heading-in after an early wrap on-set.  Single Ladies films in Toronto till the end of December.

Universal Pictures Canada release JURASSIC WORLD on Friday, June 12, 2015.

There was never a doubt it would be Number One, but the question was by how much. THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, PART 1 might be drawing some mixed reactions critically with a 69% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, but Fans still continue to love it giving it an A- CinemaScore.  This latest Installment debuts across North America with $124.8 million from 4,141 theatres (including 900 alone in Canada) for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films, the lowest so far it the Franchise behind  Catching Fire‘s $158 million debut in 2013.  No need to fret though – if we look back at The Twilight Saga‘s numbers also we see that Part 1 of its final two Breaking Dawn Films also saw a slight dip in 2011 before finishing strong in its Finale and similar can be expected of Mockingjay, Part 2 when it opens next November.

BIG HERO 6 despite pulling in a hefty $20 million in its third week is a distant second, bringing its domestic tally to $135.7 million for Disney.

INTERSTELLAR still continues to go well in third with $15 million also in its third week out for Paramount Pictures, just surpassing $120 million in these parts.

DUMB AND DUMBER TO after debuting on-top last week, slips to fourth spot for Universal Pictures with $14 million, nearing the $60 million in its two week run.

GONE GIRL hangs-on valiantly to the Top Ten in fifth with $2.8 million in its eighth week out for 20th Century Fox.

TIFF ’14 Selection and Oscar Contender THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.5 million from only 140 theatres for Focus Features/eOne Films in its third week of limited release.

It isn’t quite the strong Followup we wanted to international Smash Hit All About That Bass (and believe me, that is a tough assignment!), but Meghan Trainor does good with her latest Single Lips Are Movin, in that same Doo-Wop/Pop vein.  The colourful Video for the Track, directed by Choreographer Fatima Robinson, was just released earlier today and sees the adorable Songstress cutesy-ing it up as she scorns that dishonest soon-to-be Ex-Lover!  We actually were hoping for something a bit more down-tempo as we are mesmerized by Trainor‘s Cover of Sam Smith‘s Stay With Me!

Something funky fresh for your Friday!  It’s been ages since we’ve heard from Mark Ronson.  We loved his star-studded 2007 Covers Disc Version and for a minute forgot how amazing he was. You can imagine how devastated we were to learn too late that he was in-town during TIFF ’14!

Ronson teams with brilliant Bruno Mars on this delicious, funky throwback.  Watching this Video for new Single and Collabo UPTOWN FUNK, literally transports you in time to the late ’70s – not an easy to replicate with authenticity!

I did miss them when they were gone. I really did! The hot new Trailer for PITCH PERFECT 2 is about to “break the Internet” – well at least my Internet connection anyway! The Ellen Show got an exclusive First Look earlier today! I must admit I couldn’t stop laughing at the some of the One-Liners, especially from Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson). Although there isn’t much a clue as to what new Music we’ll be hearing in this Sequel, one thing’s for sure – the laughs are back. Between The Hunger Games, directing this and being a Horse Racing Ambassador, we don’t know where Elizabeth Banks finds all the time and energy!

The Barden Bellas are back and this time around, the film focuses on Beca (Anna Kendrick) and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) as they navigate through their senior year. Emily Junk (Hailee Steinfeld), who’s a legacy thanks to her mother, joins the team. The team decides to enter the World Championships even though no team from the United States has ever won, due to the global bias against Americans. Trust me, the slipper totally fits! Disney has just “broken the Internet” with something we actually want to see! After first hearing about the upcoming Live-Action version of CINDERELLA by Kenneth Branagh, we have been itching to see it. Earlier today the first Trailer and Poster for the beloved Tale were released and believe me, your jaws will drop!

The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honour her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul.
