The specials explore the impact of Warner Bros. on art, commerce and culture, telling the story of the fabled entertainment studio on its 100th anniversary.
Narrated by Morgan Freeman and directed by Academy Award® and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Leslie Iwerks (The Imagineering Story, Recycled Life), 100 Years of Warner Bros. provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the history of the iconic Hollywood studio, from the underdog origins of the company to its transformation into a global entertainment powerhouse. The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) today announced its first-ever free outdoor film festival taking place August 10 and 17 , 2023 at the CFC campus on Windfields Estate in North York. Aptly called “Summer of Love,” the festival will showcase both nostalgic favourites and new voices from Canadian filmmakers. The inaugural CFC Outdoor Film Festival invites film-lovers to experience a Summer of Love, with two features and a selection of short films showcasing Canadian storytellers for two nights in August. The beloved romantic comedy Moonstruck, from director and CFC founder Norman Jewison will screen on August 10 at 7:30 p.m. and CFC alum and director V.T. Nayani’s film This Place, which premiered at TIFF 2022, will screen on August 17 at 7:30 p.m. Each feature will be preceded by a selection of short films from recent CFC alumni, which will be announced at a later date.
The event is free to the public and surrounding neighbourhood.

Who’s got Tennis fever? A multi-episode doc-series following the US Women’s National Team’s World Cup journey will premiere globally on Netflix this Fall, 2023. The series is a co-production with TIME Studios, Words + Pictures, and Togethxr.
Synopsis:
The all-access sports series will allow audiences to intimately follow the US Women’s National Team’s players and coaches and reveal an inside look at the most decorated team in soccer history. Viewers will get a first-hand look at the pressure, the euphoria, the joy, and the hardships that these world-class athletes experience as they strive to capture their third World Cup title in a row. Issues ranging from racial diversity, LGBTQ+ rights, equal pay, family, and motherhood are all brought to light as the narrative unfolds.
The series will capture all of the personal and team preparation on the road to their biggest FIFA World Cup. Throughout their tournament run, audiences will learn how this team stands on the shoulders of those who played before them, and how they continue to break the glass ceiling for equality in sports for women of the future.
The series will include veteran champions like Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, who recently announced this was her last World Cup, 18-year-old rising star Alyssa Thompson as well as US Women’s World Cup Team first timers Sofia Huerta, Lynn Williams and Kristie Mewis. Additional names will be announced at a later date.
The series is currently in production in New Zealand and Australia following the team as they compete for the 2023 World Cup.
On July 13, 2023, at the ESPY Awards, the US Women’s National Team was awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for their strength and determination, fighting for pay parity in soccer.

Its five-day running total is $78 million since its Wednesday opening, across North America. Franchise best still goes to MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT with $61 million in 2018.
SOUND OF FREEDOM lands in second spot, still going strong with $23.6 million from 3,265 theatres for Angel Studios, a two-week total of $82 million.
INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR is in third with $12.6 million from 3,188 theatres for Sony Pictures, a two week run of $57 million.
