This August, Super Channel Quest fans have two new premieres to dig their teeth into. On Friday, Aug 14 at 8 pm ET, two back-to-back episodes of Secrets of the Ice (10 x 60 min.) explore what remains locked beneath ice and snow—vast, frozen landscapes where time slows, evidence endures, and mysteries wait to be revealed. Then, on Tuesday, Aug 25 at 9 pm ET, Rich and Sinful: The Lost Pleasure Palace of Pompeii (1 x 90 min.)investigates Villa Oplontis near Pompeii, one of the most luxurious villas in the entire Roman Empire. Both series are available on Demand the day of premiere, with Rich and Sinful: The Lost Pleasure Palace of Pompeii available in two parts (2 x 45 min.)
As climate change accelerates ice melt and technology peers deeper than ever before. In the fifth season of Secrets in the Ice, the series travels to the planet’s coldest frontiers, uncovering stories once thought lost forever. This season builds on the series’ core mission to investigate humanity’s hidden past in extreme environments. Rich and Sinful: The Lost Pleasure Palace of Pompeii examines the Bay of Naples in the first century AD, the playground of the wealthy. But one villa stands apart for its luxury and scale: Villa Oplontis, where new discoveries reveal the lives of both the elite and the enslaved, while hinting at ties to Poppaea Sabina, Nero’s second wife.

Today, Prime Video released first look images from the upcoming new Original series, Carrie. Based on Stephen King’s iconic debut novel, Carrie is a bold, timely, and surprising reinvention of this classic coming‑of‑age story, adapted for television for the first time by visionary showrunner Mike Flanagan. Carrie will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide this Fall.
Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.
Told over eight propulsive episodes, the series expands King’s cultural landmark — deepening its characters and tensions, and following the small, everyday choices that build toward a single, shattering night, in a gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty, and whether we’re witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated.
As previously announced, Carrie stars Summer Howell as Carrie White, cast in the legendary titular role following an extensive search that saw more than 1,000 actors read. The ensemble of series regulars also includes Samantha Sloyan (The Pitt) as Margaret White, Siena Agudong (Resident Evil) as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton (Fire Country) as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette (My Life with the Walter Boys) as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota (The Buccaneers) as Tina, Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) as Billy, Thalia Dudek (The Running Man) as Emaline, Amber Midthunder (Prey) as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard (Man of Tomorrow) as Principal Grayle.
Carrie is written and executive produced by showrunner Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House) with Flanagan also directing four episodes. Stephen King also serves as executive producer. The series is an Amazon MGM Studios production.
Stephen King’s debut novel Carrie was published in 1974, launching a career in which his books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide. The novel spent 14 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list and has been translated into more than 35 languages. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film adaptation, an Academy Award–nominated feature, cemented the story’s cultural impact; this year marks the film’s 50th anniversary.

One of the week’s most beloved dining rituals is getting a Queen West refresh. The Drake Hotel is putting its own spin on Taco Tuesday!
Every Tuesday this summer, The Drake’s Café Patio is turning Queen West into the neighbourhood’s go-to spot for tacos, ice-cold beer and margaritas. Dig into succulent pork tacos with guacamole and chips, crispy Modelo’s or a classic marg, and Latin-leaning DJ sets with front-row seats to one of Toronto’s busiest streets, just steps from Ossington.
The Details:
When: Every Tuesday, 5-8 PM
Where: The Drake Hotel | 1150 Queen St. W
For just $29 the menu includes: Two pork tacos, guacamole + chips, and your choice of a Modelo or margarita
Music: Latin-inspired, open-format DJ sets by DJ J.J.
Patio: Dog-friendly, perfect for after-work drinks, friends, families, and datenights.
As The Drake continues to double down on the classics this season, (especially following the launch of their reinvented Sky Yard BBQ menu!), Taco Tuesdays are another reason the iconic property has kept locals coming back week after week for over 20 years.

Filmed live during a sold-out limited engagement at London’s Lyric Theatre in the West End, Hadestown: The Musical reunites the five principal performers from the original Broadway production for a spectacular presentation of the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical on the big screen.
The genre-defying musical blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus (Reeve Carney) and Eurydice (Eva Noblezada), and that of King Hades (Patrick Page) and his wife Persephone (Amber Gray) – and featuring the legendary André De Shields as Hermes, Hadestown: The Musical invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.
Winner of eight Tony Awards in 2019, including Best Musical, and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, Hadestown has captivated audiences around the world with its innovative storytelling and celebrated score brought to life by stage play director Rachel Chavkin and writer-composer Anaïs Mitchell.
The film is directed by Brett Sullivan, a pioneer in bringing stage productions to the screen. Brett has directed and produced concert events such as Les Miserables at the O2, Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall, and delivered live captures for Frozen, Billy Elliot, Waitress, Newsies, Miss Saigon, and Kinky Boots, amongst others
Canadian audiences have a special connection to the musical as the show was partly developed at Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre when it was staged for a few weeks in November 2017 to refine some of its set elements.
Hadestown: The Musical is being released in Canada by Mongrel Media.

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

Today, GRAMMY®-nominated and Diamond-certified superstar Teddy Swims releases his most vulnerable single yet, “Break Up in Reverse.” Out now via Warner Records, the track is a deeply loving breakup song rooted not in regret or resentment, but a wish to relive the relationship all over again in a way that leads to a happy ending. Listen HERE and watch the accompanying official music video HERE.
The new song arrives as Swims plays a series of overseas festivals shortly after he wrapped a stateside summer run that culminated in a triumphant return to BottleRock and Bonnaroo. He was also the only artist to play both Stagecoach and Coachella this year, and made news for bringing David Lee Roth, Joe Jonas, and Vanessa Carlton onstage at the latter. In September, he launches THE UGLY TOUR, a massive North American arena tour. Info and itinerary below. Tickets HERE.
“Break Up in Reverse” is intimate from the start: just Swims’ voice over sweetly intimate acoustic strum as he paints a heartbreaking scene: “Tears on your face climb back into your eyes / A little less on your nerves and a little more on your mind.” Reuniting Swims with collaborators Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, Matt Zara, Mikky Ekko, and Tommy King, the cut builds to a warm swell of instrumentation and a poignant hook: “I wish we could break up in reverse / Every night would get better, instead of getting worse / I’d watch you slowly lip back into my hands / Say goodbye to me in the beginning, and love me in the end.”
Swims spoke on the personal meaning of his new song: “‘Break Up in Reverse’ really hits home for me right now and where I am in my life. Upon writing this song and my next album, I’ve been going through it with my relationship with my baby’s mother coming to an end. With ‘Break Up in Reverse’ we were super inspired by an old Nas song called ‘Rewind.’ We loved how the whole song takes place in reverse. So we thought, how beautiful would it be if we took the same idea but wrote it about my relationship, with the punchline being ‘say goodbye to me in the beginning and love me in the end.’ I hope you feel as moved as I do every time I hear and sing this song!”
The “Break Up in Reverse” video brings the concept to life, opening on Swims standing in front of a pile of rubble. As he sings, a bulldozer moving in reverse reassembles the mess into a cozy room full of meaningful objects: photos, baby toys, puzzle pieces, and kintsugi pottery — broken ceramics whose cracks have been repaired with gold. In time, Swims finds peace.
“Break Up in Reverse” follows April’s “Mr. Know It All,” an instantly catchy and deceptively breezy single about the pain of romantic self-sabotage that, Rolling Stone raved, brought down the house at the 52nd Annual American Music Awards in May — watch HERE. That song officially signaled the start of a new era following an incredible breakout run that saw Swims become a universally beloved star, global hitmaker, and absolute force of nature on stage.
Last year was especially monumental for Swims, who wrapped a sold-out global tour, earned his second career GRAMMY® nod, and made history with his Diamond-certified smash “Lose Control,” which set the record for the longest-running Billboard Hot 100 song after spending 112 weeks on the chart (and it only left due to a rule meant to make room for others). In addition to topping the Hot 100 and five radio formats, the hit has surpassed 5 billion global streams.
Taking a much deserved victory lap, Swims also released his I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Complete Edition) in 2025. The definitive and dynamic 32-track collection unveiled the full vision behind his blockbuster two-part debut album, adding extra significance to a tracklist that traces his wild rise across a series of enduring singles from his record-breaking sets I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) and (Part 2). Among those: “Bad Dreams,” “Guilty,” “Are You Even Real” with GIVĒON, “The Door,” and, of course, “Lose Control.”
As he continues to unveil what looks to be his biggest, boldest, and brightest era yet, Swims is preparing for THE UGLY TOUR, which kicks off September 22 in Kansas City and wraps up in Los Angeles on November 18. Supporting artists include Natasha Bedingfield, Avery Anna, Wyatt Flores, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Mac Ayres, Allen Stone, and MarcLo.
Stay tuned for so much more from Teddy Swims.
