Following the conclusion of Amazon Prime Video’s acclaimed superhero series “The Boys”, legendary comic book creator and producer Darick Robertson is bringing his talents to the expanding Crestar and the Knight Stallion universe as co-producer and writer.
Created by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad, Abdallah Jasim, and Najam Syed of Detroit-based Exxodus Pictures, Crestar and the Knight Stallion is a new superhero franchise spanning graphic novels and a planned live-action adaptation. The project introduces what its creators describe as the first truly East meets West superhero universe developed for a global audience.
The franchise’s first two graphic novels, Crestar and the Knight Stallion: The Legend Begins and Crestar and the Knight Stallion: Devil’s Night, will be released worldwide on Amazon beginning July 1, 2026, following successful initial comic book runs across the United States and Europe. Arabic-language editions are scheduled to follow later this year.
Robertson, best known as the co-creator of The Boys and an executive producer on “The Boys”, “Gen V”, and the upcoming “Vought Rising”, wrote the franchise’s second graphic novel, Devil’s Night, and is currently collaborating on future instalments of the expanding universe.
Known for redefining the superhero genre through morally complex characters and grounded storytelling, Robertson’s involvement marks a significant milestone for the franchise as it moves toward live-action development.
The project is led by a creative team spanning the United States and the Middle East. Ahmad serves as co-creator, executive producer, writer, director, and stars as the titular vigilante hero Crestar. Jasim, a comedian, producer, and digital creator with a global following, co-created the franchise and will portray Knight Stallion, the story’s unlikely young hero.
Also attached to the project is Plot Point 1, the Saudi Arabian and U.S.-based production company led by acclaimed filmmaker Hamzah Jamjoom (Rupture), who joins the production as a producing partner. Recognized as one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent creative voices, Jamjoom brings extensive international experience and a global perspective to the expanding franchise.
The franchise has already attracted a growing online audience through a pair of proof-of-concept trailers that have generated a significant following across social media platforms.
Series Synopsis
Crestar and the Knight Stallion is a superhero action adventure introducing a new universe of heroes and villains. Bending and blending genres, this world balances the hilarious and the heroic, the horrific and the heartfelt. This live action series follows two homegrown heroes that hail from the cities of Detroit and Dearborn, Michigan. Crestar, a battle seasoned vigilante finds a young man named Ali that he believes may be the world’s first superhuman. Already known as the Guardian of Detroit, Crestar trains Ali to join him in his battle against corruption, tyranny and evil…and just like the real world, the villains they will face are more evil than anything fiction can imagine.
Crestar and the Knight Stallion blends an epic saga of good and evil with a story of brotherhood, courage and family in way not yet seen in the superhero genre. A unique hero is created when Ali dons the mask of the Knight Stallion and has to balance out the life he’s chosen with the life he already leads…and in the Arab culture, that means family. On the other hand, what if there was a superhero who didn’t have a secret identity at all? Crestar is another unique hero in that his greatest strength “and” weakness is… he never had a family at all.
This series throws these unique, hilarious, and lovable characters together in a team up for the ages, a literally battle for the future of mankind that starts on the streets of Detroit and grows with each season until the seeds that are planted in episode one become the potential destruction of the human race.
Are Crestar and the Knight Stallion destined to grow beyond their vigilante adventures and conquer the forces of evil on a global scale? Will Ali get married? Does Crestar ever take off his mask? Find out in this series that blends the sharpness of “The Boys” with the comedic edge of Deadpool and the imagination, family and friends of “Stranger Things”.
Darick Robertson said, “I believe Crestar and The Knight Stallion supersedes the genre it lives within in that it ultimately brings forth a human story through extraordinary circumstances. I enjoy writing these characters because of their humanity and real-world dilemmas: Getting a decent job, family conflicts, living up to the expectations of others and finding one’s way in a complicated modern world. These characters are relatable and as result, very fun to be with as they go through their adventures. It’s not typical and it’s not predictable. I think translating from the comics to the screen will feel quite natural for that reason alone.”
