#FOOD: BEAR STEAK SANDWICHES X HONG SHONG COLLABORATION FOR FATHER’S DAY 2026

In honour of father’s day, two of Toronto’s cult-favourite food spots are coming together for a limited-edition collaboration this June.

For one weekend only (June 20–21), Hong Shing and Bear Steak are launching a limited-edition Father’s Day collaboration available at Bear Steak’s College Street and The Well locations:

Ma La Poivre Steak Sandwich – a Hong Shing twist on a BEAR Steak classic! Inspired by the famous Ma La Chicken Wings from Hong Shing, medium rare flank is dressed with a szechuan peppercorn au poivre sauce and topped with pickled cucumbers.
Ginger Scallion Fries -the perfect complement to the sandwich. A healthy dusting of Hong Shing’s ginger scallion seasoning coats the BEAR Steak fries, which are double fried in beef tallow for extra crispiness and flavour. An umami flavour bomb!

Beyond the food itself, the collaboration is also rooted in community and nostalgia — inspired by the connection many people have between basketball, food, and spending time with family and friends.

To celebrate the launch weekend, Hong Shing, Bear Steak, and Hello & Welcome Podcast will host an open-invite 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Friday, June 19 at Recess Athletic Club in Markham featuring DJs, food, drinks, jerseys, and community teams competing throughout the night.
