#SPOTTED: BOOTS RILEY IN TORONTO FOR “I LOVE BOOSTERS”
Multi-hyphenate musician-turned-filmmaker Boots Riley returned to Toronto for his latest effort, I LOVE BOOSTERS, which already is winning big raves. He last visited with his 2018 directorial debut SORRY TO BOTHER YOU.
The highly-stylized, quirky, comedic Heist-Thriller centers on a group of women who are shoplifters, stealing high fashion so that those who can’t afford it, can access it. They find themselves up against an exploitative fashion mogul.
This stacked Ensemble includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Lakeith Stanfield, Eiza Gonzalez, and Dami Moore.
Riley was generous with his time, speaking at a post-screening Q&A with CBC’S Elamin Abdelmahmoud, giving the audience a quick crash course on the history of strikes vs. boycotting. More below:
