Sony Music Vision today announced that Always Lalisa, the feature documentary following global superstar, rapper, singer, dancer, and actor, LISA, will open in IMAX and cinemas worldwide for a limited engagement via Trafalgar Releasing beginning October 12, before streaming exclusively on YouTube Premium later this year. Tickets will be officially on sale for the theatrical release on September 9. To purchase tickets and get more information, visit www.AlwaysLaLisa.com.
Directed by Sue Kim, the film follows a pivotal year in LISA’s life, as, for the first time since childhood, she steps away from BLACKPINK for a year of independence. With the clock ticking before her return to the group, LISA confronts the fear and pressure of launching a solo career, pursuing acting, and building a brand, while yearning to maintain a personal life beyond the spotlight.
One of the most recognized artists in the world, LISA’s profile has never been higher: she was one of the performers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and performed “Goals” alongside Anitta and Rema, becoming the first female K-pop and Thai artist to perform; performed at Coachella 2025 as a solo act; covered Vanity Fair’s Summer 2026 issue; served on the 2026 Met Gala host committee as the first K-pop artist in that role; presented at the 2026 Golden Globes; made her acting debut in HBO’s The White Lotus; and announced two Netflix projects — starring in and executive producing action film TYGO and an untitled “Notting Hill”-inspired romantic comedy currently in development. LISA recently announced her upcoming EP, PRESS PLAY, out October 23rd. The first single “SaWaDika” arrives Thursday, September 3rd. LISA also made history as the first K-pop artist to hold a Las Vegas residency, with her four-show VIVA LA LISA run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace — spanning November 13–14 and November 27–28, 2026 — selling out in under 10 minutes.
“LISA’s music resonates with fans across the globe and we hope this film creates that same powerful connection,” said Tom Mackay, President, Sony Music Vision. “Alongside its theatrical release, we’re thrilled to partner with YouTube Premium to bring this intimate look at her incredible journey directly to audiences around the world, wherever they are.”
“Always Lalisa gives fans an unguarded look at LISA’s trajectory from BLACKPINK stardom into one of the most recognized artists in the world,” said Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing. “BLINKS have been waiting for this story and we are proud to give them the opportunity to celebrate her incredible journey together in cinemas worldwide.”
“LISA is an absolute force of nature who has built an incredibly special connection with her fans at her home on YouTube. She is constantly pushing boundaries and redefining what it means to be a global superstar,” said Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music, YouTube. “There’s no better place to share her story than on YouTube, giving her millions of fans a front-row seat to her evolution as an artist.”
Following its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, Always Lalisa opens in theatres worldwide this October. The film will be available to stream globally on YouTube Premium later this year. Further details, including cinema listings, will be available at www.AlwaysLaLisa.com.
